Color: In normal room lighting, its black. The only time it looks dark blue is when a light source shines directly on it.

Fingerprints: none. I don't use my computer backwards.

4K Export: my videos average about 10 minutes and I feel more comfortable exporting on the Air than my i9 Macbook Pro

Its a good machine, pay no attention to the click bait Chicken Littles that are polluting youtube now.

That is a beautiful laptop. I use mine (not Mac) on my desk and use keyboard with a mouse so never really print up the cover and wipe my lappy below the keyboard at the end of the workday.

Wow! Any favorite pieces of software? I've been a Mac user for 13 years, but for the past 5 or so, my mid-2009 MBP has been pretty useless and so I'm been pretty well in the dark as far as interesting Mac software is concerned. My new M2 Air arrived 10 days ago, and so far all I have installed is the MLB (iPad) app, Rectangle, Amphetamine (which I've yet to even launch), a couple of e-mail apps (I seem to have settled on Mimestream - its name doesn't make much sense but it appears to provide an excellent Gmail experience) and the golf game I like to play on the iPad. I might eventually install a more serious photo editor - I used to be a pretty heavy Aperture user, and dabbled in Lightroom, too - but these days, the iPhone camera delivers such good results that I can usually get my snapshots more or less the way I want them with the built-in editor in Photos.

Cheers and enjoy your new machine!

As long as you don't get the base SSD it's nice and fast, and nobody on YouTube and elsewhere said otherwise. So to say don't pay attention to the YouTube reviews actually fails to address the point.

How very DARE you have a good experience when others have made up their minds that this is the worse thing Apple has ever produced! /s

Also, mazel tov.
Lol I know. I swear some members are actually offended people are having a positive experience with these machine. Goes against 99% of the YouTubers experience so it must not be true lol

It doesn't install software faster than that? Clearly this is a disaster for Apple!!!! /s

I also own a midnight MBA2. Don't listen to the haters here. It's an amazing machine, fast as hell, looks great, and the fingerprint thing is a total non issue. A few days in, I barely even notice any anymore. Either because they're not occurring as frequently, or because my fingers aren't constantly coated in Cheeto dust.

I've got a midnight, and I agree, it's a non issue. There's hardly any at all, and certainly not to the degree that it's a problem. Maybe people should wash their hands regularly.
Just carry around your Apple polishing cloth and wipe your Midnight MBA down every 30 minutes or so. No problem at all.

All kidding aside, I’ve been washing my hands a bit more than usual since Thursday.

I got the 1 tb and 16gb version and love it. I came from an early 2020 MacBook Air, and this blows it out of the water. It's so fast. I do have fingerprints on mine, but meh, can just clean it. My spacegrey only had some on it as well, just wasn't nearly as noticeable, but its not a big deal at all.

I have had it for three days and have not wiped it down once.

I went from base midnight to 8/10/512 space gray and back to base midnight. For “normal” usage web surfing, streaming video, email, Excel etc base unit is more that sufficient for me. I also have a 14” M1 MBP and a M1 iMac which I use for same purposes but they could carry “heavier” workload if needed.

I’m just an Apple gadget freak since the intro of 1st Mac in 1984 (still have it in the closet).

This is cyclical, and actually quite predictable. There's a very specific business model to bashing Apple products. The highest grossing YouTubers have it down to a science. They know exactly what to say, what the headline should be, what thumbnail to use, etc. to get you to hate-click.
