Have been noticing midnight MBAs M2 are often now available in the stores, but not the silver or Space Gray. Wondering where people have settled, the guy also told me a lot of people are returning their midnights, so where do you stand?

You've made multiple comments on multiple threads complaining about midnight, which you've indicated you no longer own, and now you've created this new thread. You really don't like midnight.

Started with Midnight from an Apple Store purchase and then decided to do a BTO with Starlight.
Same but returned it as well. For some reason I thought the new MBA would feel “special” but they just don’t. It’s not any lighter than the previous year or noticeably faster for what I use a MBA for. I already have a MBP so the design isn’t new to me either. I guess I thought the MBA would be more fun to use but it just became another device that wasn’t memorable or gave me a reason to want to use it over something else I own.

Great device but not a game changer.

I put this in another thread, but applies here...

Here's my MBA with the MBA Survival Kit!

LOL, like many on here, so what's your point? like I said I did have midnight and liked it, just can't stand the fingerprints...

it would certainly matter what you're moving from; the M1 air to the M2 air doesn't seem like much of a leap. for me, coming from an 1892 macbook (sorry! a 2016 macbook), the new air seems extraordinary; bright, fast; light. and the battery life is incredible...

Indeed! Why, I'm so old I remember beige, battleship gray and the toilet seat iBooks in translucent fruit colours.
Space gray? Pshaw - wannabe 'old school'. 🙄
Always wanted the tangerine iBook but couldn’t get past the 800x600 display.

For me, the leap was adding an additional 8 GB of RAM. I definitely wanted the new chassis design but the real consideration was being able to get 24 GB of RAM. I don't see much of a pure performance improvement either on day to day work but you can measure it—it's there.

I’m Mac-centric, so for me a selling point is that it doesn’t look exactly like just about every other Mac laptop I’ve been using since 2006. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
His point is that the laptop 'looks' the same as every Windows laptop in the office.

That's exactly why I didn't get Midnight either. Everyone in my office has dark Windows laptops. The Midnight would just not stand out as a 'Mac'.

I want to be different to the plebs 😂 I love that people can see my M2 Silver MBA easily. Just totally stands out but still in and understated classic way.

I think eventually the Midnight will just be another Space Grey, niche, boring, gimmicky. Blends in with Windows laptops way too much.

With that said, it is a cool looking MBA. I'd actually prefer it to take to the cafe where sometimes I feel too flashy with the silver! All of them are cool anyway.

I’ve already had a fairly savvy windows IT guy ask me what my M2 MacBook Air was. The Apple logo wasn’t visible because it was open and no other branding confused him. He just knew he hadn’t ever seen a notebook like it. I got a bit of stunned silence and a blank look when I said it was an Apple M2 MacBook Air. Luckily I don’t need much support 😎.

I went with silver. The Midnight color looked nice and would have been my second choice if silver wasn’t available. I don’t like space gray much but silver has always been my favorite for a MacBook.

I don’t really care about standing out. I’m not a fan of “hey look at me” computers. If I wanted that I would get RGB. I just love the classic look of silver. Now I just need some stickers 😂🤣

The Midnight is beautiful. Totally. I just got the silver because I'm always walking around with it and my last Space Grey MBP had 'nicks' across it, after I'd bashed it against a wall a couple of times, running around doing presentations.

Your presentations seem to be a lot more vigorous than mine. 🤣

I think I've found the most bothersome, to me, lighting situation for Midnight: bright fluorescent light that causes a reflection. It makes the color look like an old checkbook cover, which is a dull navy blue.

While I love it most when it appears to be a slate or charcoal gray, the blue from Midnight is at its best in natural lighting that is well-diffused.

At home I have more natural light coming in, whereas at work I'm constantly under fluorescent light. I'm hoping space gray, though possibly not as appealing to me as midnight at its best, will be more consistent. My only concern is the gray being a bit too light shade. I really like the darker shade of space gray on my iPad Air 5th gen.

Keeping it. I like the low contrast between the keyboard and the chassis a bit more than I hate the smudges. Besides, in my house it mostly looks black and I can't see the fingerprints unless I really try to, or if I move it into direct sun light.

If they had an all-silver or white version, I would definitely go for that instead. I like white laptops more than black laptops, but not a big fan of the silver & black contrast anymore.

I am happy with my Midnight MBA. I have had it for about a month now and I love when the blue color is more prevalent in some light. It does get fingerprints on it but it doesn’t seem like an insane amount. I wipe it down probably a couple times a week, but I am also not very OCD about such things.
