I tried to get used to one on my work machine using dual 20" displays, after an hour or two, I said screw it and plugged my Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer back in. It's is hands down my favorite mouse. Big enough fro my hands, and I use all the buttons. The mighty mouse feels like a toy.

Edit: Sweet! 100th post! I'm now a regular! When I get paid next, I'll be a Demi-God (hopefully... :p )

Yes, all that time spent being irregular just isn't fun.

I tried a buddy's MM. I was all excited, but I can't say I cared for it too much. Kinda disappointed, really. Maybe it just takes more getting used to...

i don't mind mine.

Me either, I'll admit it took me a few days to get used to it, but once I did I felt completely comfortable using it. It still is no where close to a replacement of my MX1000.

i think it's great, yeah sometimes i end up clicking the right button 'cause i forgot it was a two button mouse, but it makes everything so much quicker, especially the scrollball.

and can someone enlighten me as to the advantage of a higher dpi on a mouse? i can't think of one, i'd love to know :)
Its actually a three button mouse. if you click on the scrollball it acts as the mmb.

I bought a Kensington 5-button mouse for my new iMac for about $20 from CompUSA and I love it. I'm not a fan of Apple's mice. I'd take mine back to the Apple Store if I were you. Or just buy a different mouse.

I played with one at the Apple store and didn't like it. The biggest problem, it seemed to me, was that the side buttons were poorly designed for ergonomics. The human hand isn't semetrical and doesn't have a second thumb. I think the buttons should be a little staggered or something to make it more comfortable (albeit right or left handed). Further, the side buttons just didn't seem to work all that well. I also thought the scroll ball was a little small and therefore harder to use.

The best mouse I'm currently using is a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 optical mouse. It's slender, sleek and very lightweight. I tried in earnest to use the Apple supplied mouse, but after a week, I gave up on it.

Apple makes some of the worst mouse products on the market. (excluding cheap OEM brands)

i had the same impression .. mouse ball is too small for comfortable use

and when i think about the hefty price tag of 55€ and remeber the brand new Razor Copperhead in the store for a whopping 59 € (my eyes nearly fall out because last time it were beyond 80€..and me,the biggest idiot of the world, didn't bought it..i hope they still have it this week)

ok, before this gets locked...

Why is this a useless post? This is a simple product review, albeit an unorthodox one. As someone who has thought about getting a mighty mouse, I appreciate hearing about users' experiences with it, both good and bad.

Would you all have said "what a useless post" if this review were praising the mighty mouse in similar (unorthodox) way? No way; you would have said "glad you like it," "I love mine too," "thanks for the review," etc. You're only reacting this way because this was a rare negative post about a product actually made by apple.

I agree. there is no need to lock this post. the poster gave me pause as to where and when I buy the MM. I will want to but it from some place that will will not charge me 10 to 15 percent to return it if I find it such a failure as the poster seems to feel it is.

Well, I really liked the Mighty Mouse. It's way of doing things is really innovative, and the finger-lifting doesn't really bother me since I naturally lift my finger when right-clicking. I do admit I do accidently left-click instead of right-click on occasion, but not frequently enough to bother me really. I think the scrollwheel is comfortable enough... I just "rub" the mouse in the area where the wheel is, instead of trying to roll the wheel... Try it, you'll see what I mean.

My only two real complaints about the mouse is the price (it's a bit pricey) and that the scrollwhell ball isn't removable (easily)... and dust and hair DO get under there... That's probably why you can't scroll up (to the OP). It has happened to me, and I had to shake and move the ball around to get whatever it is out. Bad design methinks.

Of course, when they release a wireless version, I'm buying one :D

I would say for the most part the Apple mice are cheap OEM brands...

As for the pertinence of this thread, I came ready for a blood royale about one of the greatest cartoon characters of all time. "Here I come to save the day!!!"

I've sold mine after about a two months. I liked the idea, but in practice, I barely used it and when I did, it made my hand ache. Now back to using a regular Apple mouse.

I don't think it sucks but I didn't get on with it.

Don't see what the big fuss is.. 2 days and I'm already quite used to Ctrl-Clicking on things. Surely experienced users can do without right clicks?

The mighty mouse sucks.....pass on the mouse if you are thinking of buying it....

Results may vary....
When I first read about the product and read the various posts here and elsewhere, I had no plans on buying one. I got a shipment of Mini's in, and took one to evaluate.
I've been using one for a week, and it took me a few hours to get used to it. Now? It's pretty astounding. Reponse is perfect and exact. The programmable buttons indeed work, and my giant 10" hand has no problem using it.
Buy that mouse!

First off this has to be one of the best titles ever... awesome.

anywho, I dont really care for the ol mouse either. The scroll is too small and the side buttons are almost useless. For the price, it just sucks. My 15 dollar kensington mouse does everything apples can.

and I dont understand why some have said this is a useless post. cause it takes a jab at apple. c'mon fanboys, at least open your eyes and understand that for 50 bucks, the mighty mouse is a joke.

I hate to admit it but when it comes to mice Microsofts Intellimouse 3.0 has been simply terrific, Fast,Comfortable and everything just works with no squeeks. Apple seems lost on making a decent Mouse. Kind of funny, kind of strange? You would expect better from the cadillac of computing. I would still like to know what its dpi is. Apple went Chineese Cheep on this one along with the white 1 button mouse. Jobs must use a Microsoft mouse:D

Thanks, I guess i got a little worked up when naming the title, I have a tendancy to type before I think....but the overall theme of my thread was that it broke in 2 months...not that it is overpriced, awkward, and overall uncomfortable...even though it is...

speaking of the RAZER DIAMONDBACK, look at this:
http://www.razerpro.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=26

Specifically made for macs. Although, no release date and no webs tore yet, even though I've waited months. And how in the hell do they have drivers to download for it when they haven't even released it?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Then again, I wonder if those drivers will work with the Diamondback... *shifty eyes*

again.... what's the point of a high dpi on a mouse?? i have no idea and would really like to know :)

Smoother and more accurate tracking. All the 'gaming mice' are like 2000DPI and up.

I'm not sure about the mighty mouse either. I got it with my Power Mac and somehow i think i prefered the original one (which you cant seem to buy anyone on the apple site incidentally :() i have turned the second button off because i prefer the one button mouse. The scroll wheel is the only thing i find useful really, that and using it to bring up dashboard. But its easy to catch the button by mistake and launch dashboard instead of clicking. The side buttons are a nightmare -- how HARD do you have to press to get them to do something >< i just use the F12 key instead.
