i tried connecting both the wired and wireless MM simultaneously at the store and compare them both (apparently you can use the a wired mouse, bt mouse, and trackpad at the same time on a mbp) with the tracking speed set to max, hands down the wired MM is definitely faster, the wireless MM felt identical in the hand but much slower, im not saying it responds slower though.

i think the slowness of the mouse is the result of the increased accuracy of the Wireless MM (i noticed it uses different technology to track your mouse, since theres no red light shining like in the wired one) and yes its deffinitely feels more accurate to me, while the wired one shakes and jitters a bit more on slow motions... tweaking settings on FCP i find its very accurate in moving the sliders to the exact point i want, while the wired one takes abit more effort. dont forget that in the MM you have to press the scroll ball slightly inwards then rolling it for it to register.

in the end i bought the wireless one, and im happy with mine ive been using it for almost a month and the battery is still at full capacity at the mouse preferences pane. oh and it connects really quickly, after turning it on just click on it a few times, speeds up the connection proccess somehow

oh and yeah it really is small, i used it for gaming and it really strained my hand, plus you cant do moves that involve clicking both the left and right buttons simultaneosly, its just not possible on the MM. but outside gaming i love my mm

I find it as comfy as any other mouse and it looks good. Just make sure you clean it! Oh, and the cable is too short (its alright for using on a desk though).

Mac mice are supposed to be plugged into the USB ports on your keyboard (or in the old days, ADB). Third party keyboards that are really intended for Macs will also have the USB ports (or ADB). Wasn't sure if you meant you were plugging your mouse to the back of a desktop or something.

i too have a Logitech V270 as was mentioned once or twice previously in this thread and I really like it. It's a tad on the small side but it's got a good feel and nice weight to it. It's fairly simple, just 2 buttons (left/right) and a scroll wheel (which doesn't work in OSX for some reason). There is a nifty on/off switch on the bottom to conserve battery and the setup was easy for me on my MB. Now I dont have the MM, but their BTMM sale during BF made it awwwwwwful tempting. If they have it again for that price, I'll prolly snatch it up. However, I am very pleased with the V270 (which comes with a pimp carrying case)

my V270's scroll works fine

I actually like the wireless MM a lot, but because I wanted an extra button, I just got a Radtech BT 600. It's great - 800 dpi, 5 buttons, an off switch, very fast wake from sleep, recharge with a usb cable that lets you keep using it.

I used a wired MM at home and a wireless MM at work, and I love them both!

Though my wired MM scroll ball has become dirty from time to time preventing down scrolling, all it takes is some vigorous scrolling with a damp cloth and it works like a charm again.

I haven't had any problems with my wireless MM, not even dirt issues.

I say get it, it will look great next to your iMac and it's functionality is what it is. It's a mouse. :)

I bought a V270 after using the BT MM for 2 months. I would never go back to the BT MM. I love the v270.

The MM tracks way to slowly. The right click is iffy and the scroll ball gets stuck constantly.

The Mighty Mouse is a Mighty Joke

I'm was extremely dissatisfied with the BT MM because it is over-designed.

I hate the touch sensative buttons because they are not as responsive as real buttons.

I hate the side-squeeers because they are hard to use and they SHOULD be two seperate buttons.

But I love the the scrollball, it scrolls "like butter".

Apple needs to knix the tired one-button design. It doesn't work for a multibutton mouse. It is a good example of Apple's stubborness. It's for Apple syncophants and scares people away from switching.

I liked the wireless keyboard, but I found the wireless MM problematic. The side buttons were too hard to squeeze and I kept having problems with the right click. In the end, the right click ceased to work altogether, so I'm back to my Logitech combo.

Aesthetically, there is no comparison. Functionally, however, my Logitech combo wins hands down.

I found the Mighty Mouse hard to use and the ball would often times lock up for me. I traded my mouse with a co-worker for a nice Logitech mouse. He seems to enjoy it. My boss also like her mighty mouse. Its all a matter of opinion. Your best bet would be to go to the store and try it for yourself, like you did.

When it did work I did really like the scroll ball....much smoother than anything i have ever used.

Still i LOVE my logitech v270

I used the wierd MM at the Apple Store, and I liked it. I never tried the side buttons, but the scroll ball worked really well!

But the keyboard is terrible.

I figured it wasn't worth the price. Me? I use a $10 optical wierd mouse. It works great.

The Logitech MX1000 Laser. The greatest mouse ever made.

I have no idea how anyone can love this mouse. I bought one last year and I would have had more fun if I lit my money on fire and watched it burn.
The mouse is too heavy.
The batteries ran out non stop.
The cursor would move even if I wasn't touching it!!
I couldn't move a straight line without it jumping all over the place.
After one month, the mouse/base stopped charging the batteries all together and now sits in the basement being pee'd on by mice.
But I can't blame logitech completely. I threw the receipt away (I had it for more than a month without all the problems, figured I wouldn't need it). And I've always used their mice products.
I hope I can use my Logitech MediaPlay mouse and somehow get the buttons to setup to play/pause/vol up/vol down and I'll be content :)

I don't know if this has been mentioned but occasionally my Mighty Mouse will randomly go all the way to the corner of my screen. Generally it happens after I've been writing something and go to use the mouse. It's gosh darned annoying.

i wanted to like the wireless mighty mouse but couldn't. the mighty mouse never tracked well for me, and i couldn't get used to the right click. the button squeeze required too much squeeze, and the mouse overall didn't feel very intuitive. i returned it, and got a logitech mx revolution (which i love) for nearly the same price.

eh i think the mighty mouse is lame b/c it doesnt fit to my hand like my microsoft one (i forget the model) and the lack of buttons. not to mention the cost, its just too plain and i prefer the wheel than that tiny ball

Mighty Mouse fits greatly to my hand, as is any other mouse. Maybe this is because I hold mice with fingers and not my palm? :D

As for OP, I used my dad's WMM and USB MM. I liked the wireless one better because it tracked better, didnt have a red light in the bottom, squeeze buttons were easier to squeeze and it didn't have a wire!

The right click can be tricky, but I almost never right-click in OS/apps. The only thing MM sucks at is games. Its unusable in games! In FPS its impossible to scroll to the desired weapon, the right click is extremely hard to do and sometimes it registered as left click just because I didnt raise my left finger high enough from the button.

Other than in games, the mouse rocks! :)

just out of curiosity, what do you guys assign your third button and side buttons for?
my third button's for 3rd click for tab browsing. side buttons currently for expose all windows.
