Mighty mouse - sideways scroll in XP?

I guess the subject line pretty much says it - but is there a way to get the side-to-side scrolling working in XP (it's running inside VMware Fusion; but that shouldn't matter)? XP seems to think the Mighty Mouse is just a three-button scrollwheel mouse.

Actually it does matter. The VMWare mouse driver emulates
an Intellimouse PS2, which only does vertical scrolling.

Argh, you're right - and the thing is, I should have known that. For some reason my brain decided to abandon me earlier. 🙄
