Migrate 1Password to Passwords app

Tried finding if there was a simple migration available from 1P to the new passwords app, but I couldn’t find anything.

Anyone know of a way to do it effortlessly? Especially like 2FA and such would be a godsend to be able to be migrated.
 
The Mac version of the Passwords app can import csv files generated by other password managers. The iOS version doesn’t have that feature.

I don’t know as I don’t have a Windows PC, but if I had to guess it probably doesn’t. You can check the settings for the Windows Passwords app though.
 
Does the mac have to run Sequoia to import the CSV? Asking because the only use an iPad, iPhone and Windows PC. I have an old 2011 Macbook that may turn on lol

Yes as the Passwords app is only on Sequoia.

I fired it up and am currently forcing the Sequoia install (since its obviously not officially supported). I'm hoping it has just enough juice to import the passwords. Will be its dying sacrifice

Trying to import Splashid Pro to IOS Password manager was unsuccessful. "Passwords could not import passwords from the CSV file because it is missing column labels" my iMac reported... Ideas?

Does the first row of the CSV have labels? I’m not sure what Passwords is looking for but presumably it’s looking for at least a username and password column.
 
Yes, with minimal issues just by exporting the CSV from 1Password and importing it into Passwords. It correctly imported the accounts, passwords, MFA secrets (for generating the 6 digit codes). It didn't get stuff that I had stored in 1Password like credit cards, membership numbers, documents etc. but I wasn't expecting it to do that - I just have to find another place to store those. If you are a heavy user of non-password storage in 1Password you might find this an irritation. But, you know, Passwords is a new app and I expect it to be improved on rapidly. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Sorry I don't have a Windows machine or use Chrome/Edge but I don't think you can import your passwords using that app. But if they are already stored in iCloud (imported on a Mac or manually entered) then there's no reason it won't sync up and just work.

Apple Passwords requires specifically named headers. If your password app doesn’t use these, you’ll need to edit the CSV file to edit the headers.

Title,URL,Username,Password,Notes,OTPAuth

Th OTPAuth isn’t required. There may be other fields that can be imported, but the bare minimum is Title, URL, Username and Password. I was able to import nearly a thousand username and passwords into the app after editing the header column.

I’m going to stay on 1Password. I like the fact that it is cross-platform.

I always think of the use case that if I’m robbed on holiday, I still have access to all of my passwords from any computer - don’t need an iPhone or Apple device.

Plus I like supporting good third party developers. I think they usually have a richer experience than Apple in order to compete. 1Password seem like good guys to me. Apple just feel like another large corporation that’s sucking the air out of the market.

For your information, I took the plunge and switched to Apple Passwords to test the solution.
The migration was so simple. I exported a CSV file containing all my secrets and I imported it to Apple Passwords. The application told me 3 passwords were not imported. So I manually imported them.
At usage, I'm very happy with the application. It works very well, it fast but also ask your fingerprint more than 1Password. I think more settings will come in the future so we should be patients. 🙂
