So I'm using migration assistant to copy my applications from my old system, but it's coming up with 77gb even though my 'get info' in my applications folder is much smaller. What 'else' is it bringing over that could be that big?

I have Final Cut Studio (uninstalled) on the old computer, intending to reinstall that one manually. The only thing I can think of is it's picking up all the 'extra' content in the Library folder, but I chose not to migrate those...

Any tips?

For many Applications to function the additional items in the Local (and sometimes User) library are required. Application Support, Frameworks, Fonts, etc. In addition, package receipts

If the OS thinks it is a necessary part of the Application, it will include it in the migration.

In addition, items that you do not have permissions to access will not be included in Get Info calculations.

To find out what it is will take some work on your part. But obvious places would be /Library.

Yup thanks for the tip. It did turn out to be all the Final Cut Studio 'extras'. I found the SoundTrack Pro stuff, does anyone know where the other stuff places? I want it off my SSD and onto my HD but now it all came over in the migration so I think I'm burning about 30g on the SSD that doesn't need to be.
