Hey all,

I have an early 2011 15'' Macbook Pro.

I recently purchased a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD and used Migration Assistant to transfer my HDD data to it. After installing

the SSD into my computer, I booted up and have been stuck on the following screen for about a couple of hours:

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm afraid that if I hold the power button down for a shut down and

restart, this process will start all over.

However, I don't want this to go on and on.

It would be great if someone could assure me that this is normal and the system will eventually boot up.

Thanks!

I often find that progress bars and time estimation for this sort of task are way off and that right when I'm about to give up and restart, it finally goes through. Especially if you're copying over 200+ gigs of stuff, it's gonna take a WHILE -- it can't transfer any faster than your old HDD can read. I would just stick it out, plug it in and leave it overnight if need be... I can't see it taking more than 12 hours or so though so at that point I would say you really have to restart it.

Hello!

I have early 2011 15" MacBook Pro just like you and I am having exactly the same issue as you trying to migrate settings over thunderbolt drive to 850 EVO SSD on freshly installed Mac OS X 10.10.2. Just like you I am stuck at the "Starting up..." screen for hours...

Any ideas, know-how advise -- all appreciated! Please please help!
