Migration Asst - Time Machine disk doesn't show up.

I've installed SL, plugged in my external drive and opened Migration asst but only my Mac HD shows up (even though my ext HD is shown on the desktop).

How do I restore all my files etc.?

From TimeMachine > Select Disk..., is your external drive selected?

So if I select the disk, it won't delete my old backup and turn it in to a new TM backup disk??

AFAIK TimeMachine is incapable of overwriting files unless your disk is full, & then it only removes older versions of files, but not unique files.
