I've searched and haven't found a successful solution yet...

I used migration assistant to import from a time machine backup to my new 13" macbook pro. On the old machine and backup, my username was my full name - johnsmith. On the new machine, I just used my first name - john - for a username. The imported data now shows up as a new user - johnsmith - and all of the folders are locked - no access. Under Get Info permissions it says name🙁unknown) priveleges:Read/Write....name:everyone priveleges:no access.

How do I go about unlocking these and merging the libraries and such into my main username?

Can't you just log into the migrated user and delete the one you created? Assuming of course you don't have critical data on the original user account.
