I got my stainless steel AWS6 today and I immediately noticed this after charging it. The Milanese loop scratched the back of the stainless steel charging puck that comes with the watch. How can Apple produce a loop that will scratch another object that is part of the same product is beyond me - didn't they test it or they just don't care? Sorry for the rant but I'm really annoyed by this.

Just amazing. Had I known it and I wouldn’t have ordered the watch with the Milanese loop... Thankfully it doesn’t scratch the back of the watch case itself - that would be too much!

That’s why I canceled my order with the Milanese loop and just orders my SS gold with the green sport band. Am ordering a California poppy leather link for it today.

don't be so sure, there are many many threads here where folks are reporting scratches due to the Milanese loop.
you probably don't want to hear this, but you can return the watch within the 14 days from Apple ...

At the moment it doesn’t have any scratches on the back yet but yes I’ve been investigating this issue and read posts of people complaining that it also scratched the back and -worse- the sapphire glass! I will buy a new band/loop and put away the Milanese one that came with the watch. Better safe than sorry.

I have a question. Is it only the Apple DLC Milanese Loop that will scratch or is it all of Apple’s ML? Have a great day.

In my case, I've been using the Space Black Milanese Loop on my Aluminium Space Grey watch for 9 months or so and never been even slightly careful (until I read some of these forums).

No damage to either the case or the glass that I can see - all the comments I've seen have related to the graphite loop.

It actually can and will scratch the back of your watch so I'd be extra careful with it.

Yes these watches are expensive, but remember any object that gets worn on your wrist every day is bound to get scratches no matter how careful you are with it.

Hi

will all the Apple Milanese Loops do this or just the DLC ONES?

Thanks

Is this satire?

Steel at an edge will scratch steel that is flat.. the ML is all edges baby. Handle w/ care

Excuse me but I don't have to know that, and metals are not my area of expertise.
And do you realize that the ML is easily attracted to the watch case and charging puck due to the magnets right? It's not easy to "handle with care". Apple should've sorted this issue out already.

We all know the Milanese loop has the potential to scratch the watch, the reality is, it’s just how you handle it with caution. But besides all that, If the Milanese loop causes this much distress to you, then don’t buy it. It’s that simple. For some of us who know how to manage and handle the band properly (Or simply don’t care if it causes a scratch), it’s not an issue. Maybe for you it is, that’s why we have options, right?

I ordered a Milanese loop, even after hearing people share their experiences about scratches. It just looks really nice! Also, stainless steel silver can be buffed out so.. temporary scratches don't bother me so much.

First it didn’t scratch the watch. It did scratch the back of the magnetic charger puck and keeps doing so every time I put it to charge. Apple should have made the puck in a material that wouldn’t get scratched by the Milanese loop. That’s the only thing that makes sense. Anyway, I ordered a new magnetic charger from Apple and this time I will wrap the back in plastic or some fabric so it won’t scratch. Since you speak of it, what’s “handle the band properly”? You place the charger on the back of the watch case and the back of the puck will rest over the the band, even if you keep the case vertically the band will be pulled to the back of the puck due to the magnets. The only way to stop that is to put something in between both objects, which I will also do once I get the new magnetic charger.

Had my gold SS5 for about a year with the ML band no problems yet. I got charging stand when I got my first watch. It is a twist piece of andodized aluminum with a hole to insert the charging puck. My watch drapes over the stand and the band never comes in contact with the charger.

Yeah, Ok. I’m sure they’ll get right on that. That’s such an insignificant topic to even discuss, because it’s frivolous to Apple that somebody should be concerned about a scratch on the charger base. I’m all for discussion, but we have to keep it realistic in the sense that what you’re proposing, is ludicrous and unnecessary.

It's not significant to you, you should've said...
@rmoliv
Devices and their associated chargers, over time, will scratch. I have a Belkin charger that charges both my iPhone and AW. It has scratches. My husband uses the Mophie puck for his XS phone. Over time, that has imperfections. Scratches are inevitable. Be they on the device or the charger or both. The more I accept the inevitability of scratches, the less stressed I am and the more I can focus on how the device brings value added to me, beyond scratches. Admittedly, it is taking a while to get to that point and it is a “work in progress”.
