Do you have to be active duty/retired in order to receive this discounts? I was just curious, seeing I am a AD military dependent, if I am eligible to receive it or not as I'm on a separate plan as my parents.

What other discounts does AT&T offer? I know one if them is the military discount and the other working for AT&T.

Yes you do, you get a 10% discount I believe it is. Just call there going to ask for proof and ID and stuff and thats about it.

If the account is under your name, then you'll have to be a member of the military to get the discount.

Don't bother calling in - they can't enroll you over the phone. If you have a military email address go to att.com/wirelessdiscounts and you can do the FAN enrollment online, if not not take an ID/pay stub/etc to your local AT&T store and ask them to fill out and fax in the paperwork.

Okay, so I can get the discount even though I'm a dependent? Just show them proof that I am, right?

Maybe it's just me, but I think it'd be a lot smarter to call and ask an AT&T rep rather than asking an online forum

it's 15%, you can either go into the store and show your ID or you can call. Depending on who you talk to you might get it done right there or if you get a real pain of a customer service person they might request an email be sent from your dad's ".mil" email address.

I've had both types so if you have more than one AT&T store nearby just try them one by one till they add it to your account.

Are you suggesting that you can just call and say "hey I (or my dad) am in the military. I would like the discount" and there is a very good chance they will just sign me up and take me at my verbal word?? Sounds suspicious...

Only if there is a discount set up specially for military dependents. To my knowledge the only discounts are for actual military personnel, which you wouldn't get.

in order to get the Military discount on service with AT&T you have to have a Military ID card. Dep ID's will not work. if your husband, wife, mom or dad is active duty theywill get the discount and any other numbers under their name will get it. all you have to do is have them add a number to their account to get it.

before i get flamed ive been active duty for 17years and the only way my ex-wife was able to get the discount was to have her number under my account.

I suspect that it also depends on which service you are in. In my case, I'm able to have the Army discount (on service) in spite of not being in the military. As a contractor, I have an us.army.mil email address. That, and connecting from an army computer was enough.
