Minecraft performance

I've been checking this page for Minecraft performance :

However, performance seems to differ greatly from one system to another, with older mac's even outperforming the latest i5 in some instances.

So, specifically, I have an early 2008 iMac, 24", 1920x1200, 2.8Ghz Core2duo, 4Gb of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro with 256Mb, running OS X.6.8.

Anyone have Minecraft running on a mac like this ?

This might be explained by performance tweaks people may be running. Minecraft can be tweaked to use more ram, 64-bit java, multi-threading, etc, all of which would affect framerate.
