Lately I have been playing Minecraft. I'm a programmer but I'm relatively new to the Minecraft Client/Modding scene. I was wondering if anyone knew, exactly which class in the minecraft.jar file (located in User/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin) has the methods for banning/unbanning while in minecraft servers. My overall goal is to modify the code and add a button onto the game client that allows you to un-ban yourself from a server, without being an administrator or basically of high power. Just to put this out there, I have NO intention to hack or make the game in any way unpleasant for others, I am merely wondering if anyone knows. One an answer is posted, or at least IF an answer is posted I will delete this thread in hopes to prevent others that do mean to hack or make the game unpleasant for others.

    Thanks

FWIW I wrote the ban/kick administrative functions used by a major gaming network.

Why do you think that a normal, non-administrative user would have any ability to un-ban themselves? Or that an administrative user would be able to authenticate, or that administrative functions would be accessible through the public Internet?

I would guess that adminstrative functions are only possible through an administrative webservice that is only accessible within a private network, and one would need VPN access to that private network to access that webservice remotely. And I'm pretty sure that attempting to gain access to said VPN without authorization would be a Federal crime.

In other words, nice try, kid, but a naive' one.

You'd have to change the server you're trying to unban from, not the client.

So unless you have access to the server, not going to happen. And if you have access to the server, you might as well unban yourself from the server tools.

So it's not possible, no matter what class files are there.

Alright, this was a big help, thanks. After reading a few other things on the internet i learned that you are able to make an "Alt Switcher" and this well; switches between different alternate characters, basically allowing quick access to a server you were previously banned from. Is this true?, and where would I be able to download the program for this if it is? That or, where should I start in coding something like this?

Wouldn't "not getting yourself banned" from the server in the 1st place be a better , and simpler, solution ?

That makes total sense to me. Why would someone pre-empt a ban?

You'd need to buy minecraft multiple times.
