Not sure why, but my wife's mini 4 randomly loses cellular service and doesn't reconnect unless I shut it down and then reboot.

I've tried the following:
updating it to 9.2
turning cellular data and enable LTE off and on
Turning airplane mode on and off (searches for a signal but returns to No Service)

Is the cellular chip bad? I don't lose signal with my phone so should this be the same case for the mini 4?

I never loose service. Restore as new if you can. Back it up first of course, but if still happening take it to the Apple Store if possible and let them run tests. That should not be happening unless you are at the edge of a coverage area imo

I'll try that and see if it fixes it. Our phones don't do this so I figured the mini shouldn't either.

Thanks, just restored as new. Hopefully it fixes it and if it doesn't, back to Best Buy for an exchange.

The restore as new didn't work. It still lost cell service. Quite frustrating but back to Best Buy it goes tomorrow.

If you are on T-Mobile and the phones that are working are iPhone 6Ses maybe it's because of the mini 4's lack of LTE band 12. Probably not though, that's an extremely specific scenario but just something that came to mind lol. I would just try a new SIM card. If that doesn't work, try new iPad.

Thanks everyone. I decided not to take it back since I forgot I added Apple Care at the Apple Store last week. I pulled the SIM card out and reinstalled it and no issues so far. I do have a Genius appointment on Tues to have it checked out.

So far so good after I pulled the SIM card out and reinstalled it. It hasn't lost signal since then....weird situation but I'm glad its no longer doing it.
