He mentioned audio pass through for the Mac Mini. I can tell you that I don't get any audio when using the display port to hdmi adapter on a unibody MBP.

Mini DisplayPort has audio in the ports, in the cables, and in the spec. Apple has disabled it in the OS.

    USB

No doubt Apple are holding back the audio in the DP for Snow Leopard so they can say "wow Snow Leopard has 10,000 shiny new things"

I believe when you plug in the USB cable it connects the isight and ACD audio. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it worked when i had a uMBP and the 24" ACD.

Yes I am sure that it, Apple has ADDED code to make their products worse.
Just because DP supports audio doesn't mean it has to have it.

THe thing has 20 pins and they just developed it. Why wouldn't it be able to transmit audio?

I believe, at this point, it comes down to this scenario:
    1) The Display Port (and Mini Display Port) *specification* supports audio.
    2) The current generation of Display Port *hardware* doesn't support audio.
