so i was looking at the monoprice mini diplay to hdmi and it says that audio is not supported. if i have external speakers plugged into my mbp wont i get audio thru those when i play things on my monitor? what do they mean by audio not supported?

It means that audio won't transmit over HDMI to a TV.

Although the newest (2010) MBPs fix that.

Audio will play over speakers hooked directly to your MBP just fine.

Do a quick search. There have been numerous threads on this over the past 5-6 weeks. Remember, only the 2010 MBP's support audio through the display port regardless of what adapter you use.
