I run my 2008 Mac Pro (3,1) headless and access it through VNC viewer only. As is, it will only display in 800x600 resolution. I was told I would need a Mini DisplayPor plug to trick the computer into providing a higher resolution. Does anyone have any experience with one they could recommend? Thanks

Basically the same thing, I have this one on my headless 2012 quad-core Mini Server.

[edit]Just noticed that you are looking for a Minidisplayport dummy plug. The ones that @xraydoc and I posted are HDMI, sorry. Same company makes a MiniDP version, there are also others at Amazon but no experience with any of these.

Thanks guys. I'm going to give the latter Mini DP emulator that Boyd01 linked a shot. Thanks for your help!
Have you verified that the DisplayPort output works in the current version of macOS that you are using?

It has run El Capitan and Catalina (the latter courtesy of the DosDude1 patch) off of the mDisplayPort on a ATI 5770 just fine in the past.
Thanks

The above mDisplayPort display emulator works well. The only resolution available is 1080p for some reason, but that's not really important to me so I won't be troubleshooting that at this time. It's much better than 800x600.
VNC is laggy, but that's a VNC or network issue.
Thanks again.
