Actually, I received an email from Monoprice today that they were in stock. I think they haven't been available before; they just placed all the details on their site along with a "notify me when this item becomes available".

But perhaps I'm wrong.

In any case, I'm a little disappointed: Its max resolution is listed as 1920x1080 (I have a 1920x1200 monitor) and it's an adapter instead of a cable. I was hoping to get rid of the ugly dongle next to my laptop.

Good thing I ordered mine the first day in came out. Should arrive in about a week or so.

I know higher is better but I'm pretty sure you'll be more than satisfied with 1920x1080.

It's too bad they couldn't have added an audio plug to the adapter for sound. Just a lot of unnecessary cables to buy.

It would require active circuitry to break audio out of the mini display port, which would wind up making the cable/adapter cost $100 and potentially be broken every time Apple updates the drivers for mini displayport.

It's far less painful to go the HDMI route with separate audio from optical.

I've been waiting for this adapter for a while too, but charging $40 in shipping to Norway is pretty excessive!
