The iBook didn't come with a miniDVI -> VGA adapter. The iBook doesn't have a miniDVI port. It came with a minVGA -> VGA adapter, so no, what you are asking will not work.

The iBooks never supported DVI, so there is no such thing as an "iBook mini-DVI to VGA adapter."

A mini-DVI to VGA adapter will work with the MacBook, but it won't work on an iBook. The iBooks came with a mini-VGA to VGA adapter, which won't work with the MacBook.
