Pick up a nexus 7 with 14 day return at walmart etc and see what you can do with a 7 inch tablet -- which is EVERTYHING. I have an ipad3 and the n7 and my ipad is becoming secondary to the n7. I think an ipad mini based on the rumored specs will be great.
iPad Mini is suited for the following uses:
1. Power Email User
2. One who loves checking calenders and arranging stuff accordingly.
3. One who loves playing light weight games
4. One who wants to have a Kindle like book reading experience
5. Perfect for Jet Setters
6. Drawing and Sketching
7. Up close movie experience.
Not sure why this tread even exists.
The iPad mini should be the sweet spot in size/weight for the ipad line. As long as its a fully functional sibling to the regular pad....you can do all the same things.
I respectfully submit to you that your thinking is NOT in the mainstream.
You see, we ALL have mobile palm sized phones. Why would we need them in a tablet? In fact, I hardly EVER use my phone except for last minute texting.
Telephony is DEAD!
He's referring to LTE/3G carrier support
I know its blasphemy to say this out here, but what I feel is the missing feature for iPad/tablet keyboard solutions is one thing. The trackpad..
Yes, thank you, urkel, that's what I meant. Mobile devices need a persistent Internet connection to be truly useful, and we are still a way away from universal wifi everywhere we go.
I do agree with you about needing a trackpad if you're going to use a tablet with a keyboard. For now, my use of the iPad is mostly limited to situations where I have no room to lay out a keyboard, so I haven't spent too much time missing a trackpad. I think what I would like is basically a MacBook Air where the keyboard detaches, and without the keyboard, the screen is an iPad that runs iOS, but when the keyboard is attached, it runs OS X. I think Apple must have something like this in their lab, but whether or not they ever perfect it enough to release to the public? We'll see, I suppose.
Correct use of nomenclature is helpful in community conversations.
Telephony - That's primarily VOICE to my ears
Data Plans - That primarily everything BUT VOICE to my eyes.
Connectivity - That's a Type and Bandwidth domain

Same thing you use the full size for.
Reading, email and media.
Only the mini can be used in public without looking silly.
Too wide to fit in 90% of my jackets.
no go. sorry apple. Hello Nexus 7
Here we go again.
I have an iPad 2, and I mainly use it at home because I do not like to carry it around. I definitely use it a lot when I travel.
I feel like I would be willing to carry around the mini more than the full size iPad, which makes me want one.
Well I don't know about the Nexus 7 part, but he does have a point about the width of the Mini. What I love about my current Kindle is being able to just slip it in my pocket and go. Seems like the iPad Mini is just a tad too wide for that, making a bag or some sort of carrying case a requirement. Which then begs the question why you wouldn't just get the bigger iPad if you have to carry a bag anyway.
Here we go again.
