Just got the new Asus PG42UQ 42 inch OLED monitor and here's a quick review & comments.

First some specs:
  • 41.5-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) OLED gaming monitor with 138Hz (overclocked) refresh rate, designed for immersive gaming
  • Features extreme blacks, high perceptual brightness and ultrafast 0.1 ms response time, with 98% DCI-P3 color gamut and Delta E <2 color difference for astonishing HDR performance
  • Custom heatsink enables up to 8%-lower temperatures for better long-term OLED performance
  • Gamer-friendly optional uniform-brightness setting for even brightness levels
  • Anti-glare micro-texture coating reduces reflections for accurate colors and better viewing experiences
  • Extensive connectivity options including DisplayPort™ 1.4 with Display Stream Compression (DSC), HDMI® 2.1, USB hub, and a tripod socket on top of the monitor
Mini review:

- I connected the monitor via DisplayPort 1.4 to the Mac Studio M1 Max via the DP 1.4 to USB C cable. Absolutely no issues, works great.
- Though not as sharp as a true monitor, the text is quite nice and not blurry (I tried an LG C2 and text was very blurry on my Mac).
- Brightness is good though the LG 5K monitor next to it is brighter. For my needs, it works great.
- I'm running it in HDR mode on the Mac for maximum brightness and clarity.
- It runs at 120 Hz, RBG 444.
- I haven't tried hooking up my PS5. That's next.

Any questions, let me know.

Great lil mini review.

May I ask what you are planning to use this for?

I’ve got one on order to use as a secondary editing monitor/gaming with my wife in the living room. Very interested to see if this monitor can cut it with regular pc work/editing of photos for professional color usage.

best

Does it support hdr on macOS as well for you ?

I'd also like to know if HDR is supported.

I'm considering purchase of a new M2 Mac Mini and am on the hunt for a monitor for it that will support 120hz and HDR over either the HDMI 2.1 ports or the USB C ports and there are very very few options.

Very interesting and good to know about the C2 text quality. How significant of a difference is OLED compared to your 5K glossy monitor next to it in terms of contrast and color? Thanks!
