Mini vs. Nexus 7 screen

Attacks? Dude you are the one who started off saying i was a fool. I never called you one name and didnt accuse you of saying things you didnt so who is attacking who? 🙄
I dont know how old you are but you should try a few things and apply them when replying in forums. Like how to use quotation marks and not making up things people say when they didnt. Some others may have said that, but i wasnt one of them because then, i would have "no brain"(see how using quotation marks works, you actually said that)
Look, i have a Mini as well...which i mentioned to you twice so if i said that then i would be saying i have no brain either, right?

Obviously using NFC wont work with somebody 2000 miles away. Not sure where that came from.

You can share pictures easily with Android too in a number of ways but that isnt part of this conversation.

Again, i like both devices, me, myself, i just use the Nexus 7 more. What you like is what you like and i really dont care which one you like. It makes no difference to me but you keep wanting to be very defensive.

So, i dont have to prove anything to you is what you said, which wasnt my intention anyways,...so, are we done here?

I'll come in as I just got a nexus 7 for Christmas. I've wanted to enter the android world just to satisfy my geeky side - but here's my disclaimer that I'm an apple fan girl 😉

I think android with the latest jellybean is ahead when it comes to text input. Auto correct is superior... I prefer the multiple options as you type. I also really like the swipe (swype) option/capability... And actually hope it's something we see with later versions of iOS as we move into the future.

I think the cursor and cut and paste function is slightly better on android... But the magnifying glass of iOS has always bugged me.

I have very few apps installed so far on the nexus, yet battery life is clearly inferior to my iPad mini... By quite a bit. I've turned off Google Now and that seems to help, but also removes one of the neat features.

Some of the apps themselves, common ones, are simply inferior. Facebook and Google plus are two that come to mind. They are much nicer and more refined on the iPad mini. Part of this is like due to the apps on the nexus being blown up phone apps... But still.

And speaking of apps, they crash on the nexus more. I have very few problems with apps crashing on the iPad... In just a few days of using the nexus I've had quite a few app hangs, a couple of app crashes and two complete unit crashes needing a hard reset.

I'm very integrated into mobile me/icloud... And the geek in me was able to track down apps that will sync my calendar and contacts, but I wonder how intuitive that will be for others if they want to switch. I found the whole experience less intuitive on the nexus actually. Syncing my music, photos, videos, books, staying in sync with contacts, bookmarks and calendars.... Its all a breeze on my iPad... Not finding it as easy on the nexus. I know some stuff can just be dragged over like a regular file system, but when you have a lot of stuff to keep synced that isn't always the best way to do things.

Customization is neat... And fun on nexus, but honestly, over time I'm not sure how important that is... Or even really that useful.... and especially if some of those neat widgets just kill battery life.

I think I like the size of the nexus better, but only if used in portrait mode. Once you switch to landscape I think the iPad is better for overall use... iPad is lighter.

I'm not a fan of the OS nav buttons on the nexus permanently taking up screen real estate, but I like the quick app switching. I've always worried about the button on the iPad/iPhone not holding up to all the double-clicking (though it hasn't proven to be a real-world problem for me either).

I find the calendar app on iPad better. Google one seems a mess to me... and I hate that it doesn't like to show you one day even when you tell it to.

Another thing that bugs me with the nexus, which seems like such a minor complaint, is the lack of a "return to top" shortcut that is so common in the iOS world. I didn't realize how much I used it until it wasn't there. I even asked around to some other android folks because I thought I must just be missing how to do it, but really, it appears to not be there.

All that said, if someone asked me if the nexus was a decent tablet for $200-$250 I'd say yes. I'd also tell them if they have the money to spend a bit more to get the iPad. Overall I think it's just more polished and smoother... But the nexus 7 is proving to be nice in its own right. There are pluses and minuses on either side.

I wonder what Google will bring to the table with the 2013 nexus 7...

I held off on the current one but may not be able to resist the next one. I'm starting to loathe that I can't swipe to type on my ipad

I have both tablets and I ended up selling the nexus. The main reasons: Screen and apps.

Although the N7 has higher ppi IMHO the mini's screen is way better. Reasons: Much better size (+ no in-screen buttons), much much much better colors (my N7 was very washed out), better responsiveness.

I had an iPad 1 the day it came out. I loved it. But it was a bit heavy and while I like a lot of screen real estate, it was a bit big. I got an iPad mini for Christmas. It is lighter. A lot lighter. It is almost exactly the same size as the original Kindle ebook reader. It even fits in my inside coat pocket. I never thought I'd have a "tablet" that is "pocketable" but I do.

During the Christmas shopping frenzy, I made a few trips to Best Buy, the Apple Store and Microcenter to compare various tablets. I looked at the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD. The Fire was noticeably slower than the Fire HD. Way slower. I didn't get to spend any time playing with the Nexus 7 but if I was picking a non-Apple tablet, I'd have to put that one high on my list as it's a Google device and thus it's more likely to get updates.

I do own a couple of Android devices: a Motorola Razr M (work phone) and a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 (for tinkering). I like iOS better overall with only one exception: I wish Apple would allow Wifi Analyzer in the iOS app store. It's very handy to be able to walk around my house with wifi analyzer running to help me find and fix wifi dead spots.

One factor that keeps me firmly in the iOS camp is the seamless integration between Apple gear. My iPhone5 photos simply "show up" on my Mac and iPad mini. I can create a shared photostream while I'm at an event and share photos to the public (if I choose) while I'm still shooting them. Another factor is iCloud backup and restore. When I powered on my new mini, I restored from my iPad 1 backup and not only did all my apps and settings come back, even my wifi settings came back. I found this out when I went to a wifi location I haven't been to since upgrading to the mini and the wifi "just worked" based on settings that had lived on my iPad 1. Sure the mini represents a $129 premium over the Nexus 7. Sure the mini screen is "only" 1024 x 768. But to me the choice is clear: mini wins on (almost) all fronts.

It's become very difficult for a screen to impress me so much I could care very little about the difference in quality between the mini and n7. I'd be more concerned with size which neither currently interest me.

The mini is a bit to big and I prefer a full size tab. The N7 is a bit to small and I prefer a note size phone.

Just my opinion anyway.
