    Hey guys,

I bought a MD-HDMI cable off Amazon. The item description says it supports audio and even one of the guys who reviewed it said it does too. He said he went into system preferences and clicked "Sound" and then selected output as the TV.

I connected mine, the display mirrors perfectly, once I tweak the resolution to match my TV (Sharp 46" LCD 1080p).

When I go into sound and select the output device as the "Sharp HDMI" it says this device audio cannot be controlled on the computer, fine. I went onto the TV and I have no idea what to do. Is there an app that will allow me to just get this fixed? The HDMI port worked flawlessly on my old PC, I just had to select output sound through HDMI. I know it's not the TV or the port because up until 2 weeks ago when I had the PC it worked fine. All other HDMI ports work fine too but not when I connect my mac.

    Thoughts appreciated guys.

    Thank you good sir!

It was just a case of having to restart VLC player because the settings don't take affect if I change them while it's open!

    Thanks again!!
