G Gata macrumors regular Original poster Mar 23, 2010 248 149 Dec 26, 2010 #1 Wondering if (using adapter), I could hook up my MBP in Bootcamp to a HDTV, use the MDPtoHDMI adapter, and have audio? Basically, use the TV as a monitor (for gaming), and have the MBP's sound come thru the TV's speakers?

I'm not sure what rev your MBP is, but audio passthrough is supported on the 2010 MBPs. http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2010/04/new-macbook-pros-support-audio-over-mini-displayport.ars Otherwise you need to get one of the adapters that also includes a USB port to grab the audio which may or not work under Windows. I'm not sure what rev your MBP is, but audio passthrough is supported on the 2010 MBPs. http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2010/04/new-macbook-pros-support-audio-over-mini-displayport.ars Otherwise you need to get one of the adapters that also includes a USB port to grab the audio which may or not work under Windows. Also, monoprice's $7.50 adapter says *NOTE* This product does NOT support audio for MAC's that outputs audio through the Mini DisplayPort. Click to expand... B Click to expand... 2010 i7 MBP (see in sig). My question was whether or not the MiniDisplayPort could output video and Audio in Bootcamp to a TV via HDMI adapters. I know HDMI can carry audio, but whether or not the MDP could thru MDP under Bootcamp was (and is) unclear to me. The Griffin adapter's looking good, though.
