What if I want a watch that only shows time, alarms and reminders and calendar events?
I do not want notifications for anything else.

An Apple Watch may be a waste of money in this case. Unless I get one used perhaps. Can it even be configured that way?

Any other watches that might do only those things?

An Apple Watch can be configured to not receive notifications. You can have as simple a watch face as you want. The watch can do the minimum you want. You can get a series 3 right now for less than $200 dollars and it would work fine for what you want.

Notifications is one of the main functions of the Apple Watch. I’m intrigued, why buy an Apple Watch when you’re not going to use any of its main features anyway? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t like being overly “connected.” But I also don’t like missing calendar notifications.

So I can either spend $200 on a nerfed watch or just get better at checking my schedule.

Ah makes sense. You might wanna check Fitbit if calendar is your only use case.

Like the iPhone, notifications can be tunes on/off per app. In the Watch App, you can turn off every notification except for calendar. As far as the watch face itself, all watch faces can be customized with complications. I would suggest going through each watch face and customize how you see fit.

What’s the out of box App list on an Apple Watch and how many of them can you delete, if not wanted?

Thank you. It‘s good to know that I could minimalistic if I wanted to with just core apps like those and two/three others.

I can confirm that you can use the AW as a regular watch only. You can even put it in airplane mode which disconnects it from WiFi or phone and only connect it few times a day to update the calendar. And like others said, you can disable any notification you don’t want, including health and activity.

Somebody asked why buy the AW if you don’t want the smart features. Because with $199 you get HAQ watch, a high accuracy quartz watch, which would cost you from $1000 and above in the traditional watch market.

Now I’m thinking I could get a cellular model, set it up to only do calls, calendar and reminder notifications, and leave my iPhone at home.

I’ve got a 256gb iPod Mini for music needs.

Simplifying my life with more technology. Who’dathunk.

While you’re at it, sign up for Apple Music, so you can just stream what you want to your watch, and then you can ditch the iPod as a second device.

I leave my personal phone at home when I go to work and rely on the cellular watch only, has worked really well for me over the last couple years.

I would, but I'm one of THOSE guys who insists on ripping CDs to lossless, hence the 256GB iPod.

I use my watch in a similar way as I use it just for activity tracking. Minimalistic watch face
(meridian) with just time, date, activity rings, weather. Thinking of buying a garmin hybrid watch, for my usage would be better plusI like the look and feel of classic watch.
