Hi I am using my MBP to connect to my Sony Bravia LED KDL EX520 using an HDMI cable through the minidisplay port. On extend desktop I can use the entire screen on the TV. However, on mirror display the display on the TV does not cover the entire TV screen i.e. there is a blank space on the right and left of the display. Please help.

MBP Mid 2010
OS X Lion 10.7.2
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB
TV Sony Bravia KDL EX520

Sounds to me as though the screens are different physical dimensions. That is the TV is wider than it is tall, and the MBP's screen is more square.

I don't think there is a good way to change this. You could try playing with the resolutions, but if you do this make sure you note what your current resolution is so you can always go back to where you started. Also be aware this could mess with your icon placement.
