mirror ipad 2 display without apple tv or cable

Hi

I work in a school and we are really interested in seeing how we could implement iPads into teaching.

One big questions is, is it possible to mirror the iPads display to a computer (windows xp/7) without cables or an apple tv?

No. You have to use a cable or apple tv.
The cable does not support video mirroring unless you get the HDMI Version.
The HDMI Cable is 40$ plus cable
the apple tv is 100$ (85 refurbished) but you need ios5 to wirelessly video mirror.
