I bought the TV series "Genius" from the iTunes store a few weeks ago. I've downloaded and watched the first five episodes then it all went a bit quiet for a couple of weeks. Tonight I have a new episode available but it's episode seven. Episode six appears to have gone missing!

Any suggestions, please?

Yes, this is where I'm downloading the series from. I get an email when a new episode is available. I've had nothing for two weeks but today I had an email notification that a new episode is available to download. This was episode seven. No sign of episode six!

I just contacted Apple...remarkably easy using their online chat. It seems that, in the UK, episode 6 is not yet available. Very odd. Apple's reply was "the episode has not yet been released for download by the content provider" (National Geographic in this case). I suppose I'll just have to wait!

This happens occasionally when some element of the episode, usually a song track playing in the background, has a copyright issue. In other words the producers have secured the rights to the element in the U.S. but not in the U.K. It's usually a legal oversight that gets sorted out eventually. If it makes you feel any better it works both ways. I'm still looking for one episode of Hamish Macbeth that never aired here because the producers never got the U.S. rights to use music from West Side Story.

Thanks, Longkeg. Looks like I might have to wait a while or even try to find another way to see episode 6. I don't have National Geographic TV so that isn't an option.

What a joke. This is why digital will never replace traditional OTA, cable TV and optical media. So it is perfectly okay to show it that way but if it goes through a bunch of network computers then it is not allowed because of some has been song.

I couldn't agree more. I'll be pretty cheesed off if I've paid for an entire series and have to miss out on one episode. The missing episode has been on UK TV so I'm hoping it's a minor hiccup by National Geographic and that Apple weren't fobbing me off with a lame excuse by blaming it on NG. Looking at the NG website it doesn't look easy to send a query. I'll give it a go though. In this case I'd be surprised if music copyright is the source of the problem as I don't recall hearing any music that could possibly be in copyright (Einstein played Mozart and Chopin on the violin!).

Did you read what you posted?? It honestly makes no sense, as there are some TV Shows that aired but never got DVD releases due to music rights. This nothing unique to digital media.

Episode 8 has now arrived but still no episode 6. This is the first time I've bought a TV series from iTunes. Looks like it will be the last as well unless my email to NG TV gets a helpful response.

I'd go back to Apple and point out that Amazon UK has episode 6 for sale/download.

Thank you for that information. Based on that I took a look in the iTunes store and found that it's also available there but despite me having purchased the series, it wants me to pay £2.49 for episode 6! I'll contact Apple again as something strange is clearly happening.
[doublepost=1497476418][/doublepost]OK, problem solved. I got onto Apple Support via the online chat and not only do I now have episode 6 ready to download but they've actually given me a refund for the entire series, which I certainly didn't expect. I was expecting to pay for the download then have Apple refund me for that episode. Top marks to Apple support for sorting out the problem.
