I recently had to use migration assistant to move from an old iMac w/Tiger to a new Mac Pro w/Leopard. I've noticed on several occasions Spotlight has failed to turn up files while searching for the exact name of the file. I know the files exist and can navigate to them easily. Searching for other files in the same folder works.

I've had the computer on for several days now so I wouldn't think that it's an issue with the time it takes to index everything.

Any advice?

I've had Spotlight randomly do that to me a few times.

I forced it to reindex the drive by going into Spotlight preferences, clicking on Privacy, choosing Macintosh HD, closing the window, and then going thru the same steps to remove Macintosh HD from the Privacy tab.

I know that there's a command you can type in Terminal to do it, but that works just as quick for me.

Hope that helps!
