I just installed an SSD into my Mac Pro. I'm on the latest version of Mountain Lion.

To save some space, I put my home directory on a different 1 TB drive. I have some music and photos adding up to about 24GB. The drive tells me that I have 270GB free and 729GB used. If I look at the info on the drive, the used number increases every few seconds. What can be causing this?

I did recently move a lot of files around. Everything seems in order though. I have emptied the trash and run OmniDiskSweeper and DiskinventoryX. Both show the same thing. 729GB used 270GB free. When inspecting the files listed on the drives in both of those programs, they only show the 24GB worth of files that I can see.

What is taking up all the empty space and why is it continuing to grow? What can I do to correct this?

    Thanks for any help.
