For no obvioius reason I appear to lack al of a sudden the icons for battery indicator, the time capsule indicator and the wifi signal indicator which were positioned at the right top corner

I also noticed thar iCal shows now a complete incorrect date (July 17th) as it should read June 7th.
iCal won't start either

I have internet connection but whish to have my previous settings back.
any suggestions ??

icons are back after second new start

I closed down OS X and restarted it
same problems.
Did it again and now all settings are normal including iCal.
no reason though what caused these problems in the first place

Click on Finder, your Macintosh HD, System, Library, Core Services, Menu Extras and you will find the menu item that disappeared. For instance if you click on Battery Menu it will reinstall that icon to the menu bar. There's other neat stuff in there that you can add to your menu bar if you wish. :)
Alan

if you Command click on any icon in the menu bar it will disappear.
