Lets forget that the iPhone was a complete revolution in the mobile phone market, lets forget all the things it CAN do, lets forget that the entire mobile phone world is gob smacked and trying the best they can to copy this phone which doesn't even have what " regular cells have had since 2002 ".

Man this is like me turning round and saying that a Aston Martin is **** because It doesn't have cup holders... " Oh my god my 10 year old VW has had cup holders obviously this Aston Martin is missing features there its crap . Better yet I feel insulted as a customer because of it "

+1 - very well put.

A removable battery would shorten the battery's life, because it would have to be smaller. And I bet you use your iPhone way more than any other phone you've had.
I doubt it would make much of a difference, if any. No expertise to back that up, though. And guilty as charged. ;)

Oh, instead of having an extra battery, you should take a look at one of the battery juice packs, you attach it to the iPhone and it recharges on the go, they are pretty good. :)
I got a battery pack a few weeks ago. The Fiio P3. It takes two AA batteries, has a built-in charger and powers any USB device. Great gadget; been meaning to post a review. But, my point is I shouldn't need such a thing.

Someone who plays Super Monkey Ball with the volume cranked will only get a couple hours of use from their iPhone. Someone who takes the occasional call and makes the occasional txt message will get a couple of days use from their iPhone.

Need is subjective thing.

I wouldn't normally ask this but, are you a troll? It is one thing to observe and comment about missing functionality, but to complain that something is being offered because it wasn't before doesn't make sense. So, it wasn't there and now it is, what is your point? Should they have not added it because it wasn't there before? Uh, DUH, NO!

I think he's talking about the fact that all these "new" and wonderful features of the 3.0 have been around on other cheap phones for years...

which really just makes apple look bad because it proves that they held off making the product better for the consumers just so they could create a buzz about their "new" features that you should get for a phone at that price..

The only reason MMS is popular is because everyone is using technology that is old. If everyone had a smartphone (blackberry, iPhone, etc.), MMS would be redundant, if not pointless. Email does all of the same things and supports more data in one message.

Basic phones use MMS because they are just that... a basic phone.

Think about this: Does your basic phone use email (without using a text message)? *Cue Sarcasm* Gee! That has been around a long time... I can't believe your phone doesn't have email! Surely it can't be a very good phone!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again....I never once had a problem sending/receiving MMS messages on my old Moto Razr. Sending pics via email on my iPhone, however....going from one iPhone 3G to another, both phones linked with Yahoo mail accounts, about 40% of the time the message never even sends. So personally, I'd rather have a basic technology that can do what I want when I want rather then the next best thing with a 40% failure rate.

This thread reminded me exactly of what a friend of mine said after the presentation, "Wow. They've just announced a slew of features that have been in most phones since 1997". Trying to get him to respect that none of those phones had the form factor or quality UI experience of the iPhone.....heh. We just agree to disagree.

This is a great point. Why MMS when you can email? The only advantage to MMS that comes to mind is that there is already a "push" system in place. Email, not as much. Getting there, though. Just not perfect yet. :)

Removable battery- Get real. Not a single iPod has had a removable battery and look how may of those they have sold and are still flying off the shelves. Simply put, it doesn't need one. You can recharge it pretty much anywhere and it has great battery life anyway.

Affordable price- Wha? Do you not remember the original price of the iPhone? It was $500 just in case you forgot. They drop it down to $200 and you still think it is not affordable? Holy crap man I have never heard of a phone like the iPhone being that cheap! Not to mention you can get a refurbished for $99.

Non-retarded interface- I will admit that it needs some work but to call it retarded is a bit overboard. Have you ever used a WinMo phone!? That is what would be known as a retarded interface my good friend. The iPhone interface is very simple and straight forward, just as OS X. That is the whole point. The deep menu system of WinMo is total rubbish (as is Windows) and most people will agree.
I couldn't agree with you more!! I had MANY cell phones over the last 14 years (work and personal) and not once have I ever needed a new battery. My 1st work phone was the Motorola "brick" phone and that maybe needed a new battery, but it worked fine. I think the iPhone is good, I get a day out if it and this is when I am playing with it all day long. My old phone lasted longer, but I only texted and called people. Come to think about it, that phone I also had to charge every night also.
Do you know what really pisses me off the most about posts like these and people like this?

Complete and utter ignorance.

You will put something down and exaggerate it out of proportions to make it look old/rubbish without even seeing the miles ahead advantages it has. You only see the negative.

Please go ahead smash the iPhone down because of the things it doesn't have compared to " regular cells " but DO NOT try to bash those " regular cells " with what the iPhone has.

Get real.

There is a reason why the business world is going nuts over the iPhone, or is it just because its made by Apple:rolleyes:
BRAVO!! I am so sick about hearing what the iPhone can't do.. MMS. I used it maybe 4-6 times in the past and I don't miss it. We can email it to the other persons phones (Phone#@txt.att.net) and they don't need internet.
