    I have a G5, OS X, old iPhoto 5.
I was moving some images around in iPhoto, some to external, some to trash, and between a move, my entire library wouldn't generate a preview or pull up an image when selected. The info like size file type, etc. is still reading, just no images.
I need big help or I am a visual artist with 2k images gone!

Were you doing your moving, etc. in the library in finder? If so, that is your problem -- stay out of the finder! Users are not meant to be digging about in that folder. Do anything and everything to/with your photos from within the app itself.

Now, to correct it. You might try rebuilding your library. See: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107947 This will probably work for you. If the first (easy) option does not work, scroll down on the article to get instructions for Manual Rebuild. And believe it when it says you may end up with duplicates -- I had as many as 4 of some photos. But sorting that out was worth it to get my photos back!

Or you can try to re-import into iPhoto from your iPhoto library or your backup.

Post back and let us know how you fared.
