A feature which I used multiple times daily is now gone.

The search integration of Spotlight with TextEdit: Typing in a search term in Spotlight, then opening one of the resulting files in TextEdit, then choosing Find in TextEdit used to immediately bring up the very same search term from Spotlight, so that you wouldn't have to type the very same (potentially very long) term all over again to go straight to the spot in the file.

Why is this gone now?

It makes absolutely no sense to drop this feature.

Has no one noticed this very nice feature missing??

I used this feature daily, and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed that it is missing and if anyone has found a fix for it?

This is such an obscure "feature" that I suspect VERY few people even knew, much less cared, about.

I certainly didn't notice and don't care that it is gone.

This could be a bug. In several apps, if you search for a string, the same string appears in the search field of other apps. It's worth reporting to Apple, here.

It still works if you do a find in Safari (command-F), and then open TextEdit. Not a very used feature, but hey.

Thanks mysterytramp. I'm glad that someone else noticed this missing. I'm not sure if it was taken out purposefully or not, and if it was taken out on purpose, why? Isn't it better to have the feature than not? And I don't see how the OS would even save much disk space or RAM taking this out.

Only other thing you can do for now is once you type your search into Spotlight is hit CMD+A then CMD+C, open it in TextEdit, hit CMD+F and then CMD+V to paste in the search query you used.

Not the best work around, but if you get quick at the key combos, it isn't much less efficient..

Kilamite, thanks! I do that already, but it is not as time saving hitting multiple keys and at times waiting for them to register, instead of having the search term immediately ready.
