Missing viewing pane

Hi

Using OSX 10.5.6 on a iMac. When I used to double click on the iMac icon on my desktop a window would open an on the left hand side of that window there was a pane which listed Devices, Shared, Places, Search for.

Something has happened and that LH pane has gone. How can I get it back please?

Sounds like you've changed the "mode" by hiding the toolbar. Click the oval lozenge in the right of the title bar...
