this seems somewhat contradicting... one time you say it has to match the amount of ram in paired banks to achieve dual channel (8gb in both banks 1 + 4gb in both banks 0) but here you say that it does not matter, as long as there is the same amount in both different banks (4gb in bank 0 + bank 1, like apple ships them).

So is this the bottom line: bank0 with matching pairs and bank1 with matching pairs?

On the 2012 27" iMac, do the two bank0's physically sit next to each other?
 
Channel/bank confusion

Would you guys quit with the channel bank stuff and just refer to the physical arrangement in the four slots in the little hole in the back of the 27" and state the top to bottom arrangement of 4/8/4/8 or 4/4/8/8 or whatever for we non technical folks, please:confused:

Or if the documentation that comes with the iMac has a diagram showing which slot is which bank, please say so.

I have some tech knowledge, but all this terminological illogical-ness is driving me numb.
