Hi, Doesn anyone have a player which plays MKV files on the ipad? Oplayer doesn't work.
    Thanks.

Used to be a nice VLC player app, but it was removed ages ago. Easiest thing to do now is convert your videos to native format with handbrake.

    EC Player - great app
I have several players but this one is outstanding. The recent update made it perfect for my needs.

Well ever since Apple took down the VLC app. The only way to play .mkv files is that you will have to encode those files to a H.264 format with Handbrake.

    1. Apple did not take down the VLC app. The VLC developer took down the app.
    2. There are LOTS of apps that provide similar or better functions than the VLC app.

Oplayer works fine, but Goodplayer is another good alternative.

AV Player HD is my app of choice for both iPad 2 ands 4s. Works very well and has a FTP feature so you can pull files down to the phone over the air without going anywhere near your computer.

Avplayer HD. I've used Avplayer on my iphone and it is great. Unusual UI but much better at mkvs than VLC ever was.

I've been using EC Player myself. It generally works pretty good, however the latest version seems to have developed an odd glitch on my (first gen) iPad, whereby videos don't fill the entire screen.

I can personally vouch for GoodPlayer... it covers all bases.

You can download video files then just play them, transfer wireless-ly or plugged in, and the playback just works as it should.

The interface is simple and it's just perfect imo.

Saw your post and checked on my iPad. You're correct, the videos don't fill the screen since the update. I'll send an email to the developer.

Update: I contacted the developer and brought it to their attention.
