hey guys I just finished installing Mountain Lion update and my MBAir's fan is having a spasm due to the process UBD...as far as I found its related to iCloud...Also my Keychain has over 1000 com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid certificates and keys....I'm not sure what to do...

Also Everything works except my "Notes" and Game Center are not syncing between my iPhone and Macbook Air....everything else has sync'd including my Calendar(mostly birthdays), Reminders, Contacts.....

yes did full shut downs many times, and also force quit the ubd process but it comes back again....my keychain now contains over 20,000 com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid keys and certificates:(

    ----------

I regret updating now...my laptop is super buggy....

I think im going to have to fresh install Mountain Lion as this is just insane. My fans are screaming with no solution in sight...not to mention the com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid keys and certificate count has gone up to 20,652....deleting doesnt help as keychain just freezes.

    try this?

Open up Terminal on your Mac and type “ cd ~/Library/Preferences/” (without the quote marks) and hit return.
Now enter “rm com.apple.desktop.plist” and hit enter again.
    Finally, enter “killall Dock”

Any given time I launch Notes or Game center my CPU Temp and Fan goes crazy ~5000RPM, Since this is iCloud process related here are the things I noticed that arent syncing/working nicely with my iPhone via iCloud, ALso the com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid count has gone up to 23,000....Seems like my locking of keychain access did nothing...now im also starting to see "Uknown" and just <key> keys show up

    - Notes
    - Game center
    - Safari Tabs...:(

Have you tried deleting the iCloud account from the Mac, then readding? Worth a try.

Does it still attempt to pull iCloud data even when there's no account present? In other words: Is the UBD process active without account info entered?

ya it stays active...but odd thing is that I hadn't launched my mail app in weeks on my Macbook Air, when I launch "Notes" in Mountain Lion now it says "updating" but none of my notes that I added on my iPhone in the past couple weeks are being pulled and If i make a new note in "notes" on my macbook Air, it isnt being pushed to my iPhone.....

imessages and reminders do work however without any issues...I am able to see the reminders that I make appear on my MBA and if i send a imessage it appears as well.

Another thing that just happened and came to my attention is the Contacts app is now showing birthday duplicates....this occurred ever since I signed out of my iCloud account and signed in, this is only happening on my MBA not on my iPhone. When I right click on birthday it doesnt let me delete it and if I select "show in contacts" it just hangs.

Lastly iCloud tabs arent showing from "other devices" seems the sync is also broken.

My fans have slowed down but the problems remain....

hey, thanks for the reply but the reason my fans are spinning hard is because the process called UBD related to iCloud is a resource hog, causing my fans to spin at high RPM as the MBAir heats up, at times it was using as much as 50-70% of my CPU(observed in Activity monitor)

I'm pretty positive that I will install ML freshly tonight bc this issue is unbearable, now even when I launch iWorks the UBD process starts to use high amount of CPU and the fans start screaming within seconds.

Stupid UBD process is always trying to connect to iCloud and for some reason it isnt able to:(. I dont know if restore files and folders from TMachine will affect the Keygen Access files.....

Also I did flush the DNS and clear the hosts (one other address was on the list) so I cleared it but it made no difference.

Did you at least try to reset the SMC? You could at least try it before a whole new install! You never know...

Will give it a go before goin ahead i guess wouldnt hurt, but from what I can see it just needs some sort of software fix from apple.....as its just related to iCloud.

Just curious, are you doing a clean install, and then restoring from time machine backups?

Yup I did a clean install and then used the migrating assistant to move the files over because had I done a TM restore I'm sure it would have reverted me back to Lion....as far as my understanding goes.

ok so I got Notes application to finally sync and same with Reminders as well as managed to get my App Store to finally work as well.

However I have lost some notes in the meantime that I made but did not sync over to my Mac in the past (like before upgrading to ML).

One more thing, I dont know how to push my iWorks (Pages) documents from my iPhone to my Mac....I have done everything correctly as in iCloud is signed in, syncing and all that. They do appear on my icloud.com but not on my MBAir....

oh and com.apple.ubuquity.peer-uuid key and certificates continue to be created...that issue hasnt been resolved and the UBD process is still being a HUGE RESOURCE HOG and making my fans spin between 5000-6500RPM

    Working so far!

First, I don't think this is just a ML issue...has been happening to our MacBook Pro for more than a year! As with everyone else, it was the UBD process taking up most of my CPU %. I am not an expert, so not saying everyone should try this, but given the reported connection to iCloud, Game Center, etc., I tried a few things.

    What I think worked was:
Went to system preferences and signed out of iCloud and confirmed deleting all iCloud info off my local Mac. Restarted iCloud and gave permission to Calendar, Mail, Contacts, Photostream, Find my Mac (things I use and sync b/w different Apple devices).

Having said that, prior to doing this, I had tried a few other solutions, so not sure if they may have played a role? Also, b/c I have several iDevices synced through iCloud, I'm not sure if this is what kept all my iCloud info intact, or if it would have remained even after deleting it off my MacBook? Maybe someone who knows more about iCloud can comment on that?

1)First thing I had tried was to: open keychan access and find the certificates com.apple.ubiquity.peer-uuid...I reset the privileges to allow always trust, which was mentioned in other threads. Rebooted...didn't seem to change anything.

2)Also had read about Game Center being and issue so dragged the application out to my desktop (it won't let you delete it). I think on reboot (but it may have done it before shutdown) OSX created a new version of it in applications, as it is a "needed" file. But no joy here either.

    3) Signed out of iCloud as discussed at the beginning.

Within 10 minutes my CPU temp had dropped by 6 or 8 degrees Celcius! The fan is quiet. I have restarted all apps except Game Center (which I personally don't have much interest in) ie.- Calendar, Mail, Contacts, Photostream, Find my Mac.

    Hope this helps,
    SS
