what he said ^^^ #Mets
It's a great trade for the Mets for Edwin alone. Cano will be a dead weight in a few years and his contract is hugely bloated, but the $20 million will help that. He will help in the short term as long as he stays clean. Looks like the new GM is making some big moves and the Wilpons are staying out of it.

LHP Patrick Corbin, 6 years $140 million with the Nationals.

Sources have it that the Red Sox resigned Eovaldi to a four years, 67.5 million dollar contract.

If so, the only free agents left to sign are Kelly and Kimbrel (i.e. it will almost be the same team as last year).

Bryce Harber, where will he land and how much money will he garner? Last year, there wasn't a lot of movement for high priced free agents and agents were crying foul. I think many Franchises shied away from long, high priced contracts and/or avoided bidding wars which is what Scott Boras always tries to foster. Given the high price tag Harper is expecting, there will not be many candidates. I do wonder if it will blow up in his face

Mets just signed catcher Wilson Ramos, fans are happy about this move. the new manager is making moves

I think fans are more jazzed up that Syndergaard doesn't have to be moved to upgrade at catcher. I think the Marlins were asking too much for Realmuto...

whoa,
Dodgers/Reds complete a blockbuster trade
Dodgers trade Kemp, Puig, Wood to Cincinnati

Looks like they may make a run at Bryce Harper, at least the talking heads at ESPN thinks so. I wonder up Puig is taking this, he seems like a prima donna and leaving LA with all of the trappings may be a shock for him

Puig, and Machado, are horrible people. I hope it really pisses him off.

S.F. Giants sign sideshow act Pat Vindette the ambidextrous pitcher.

@Centaurr The Mets have been pretty active since the Cano deal. They signed all arbitration-eligible players, including deGrom for a record $17 million (record raise on an arbitration-avoiding agreement), nabbed Keon Broxton and Jed Lowrie.

I'm not sure what the Cano and Lowrie deals mean for McNeil, Cano replaces him at 2B and Lowrie can play every infield position. The Broxton deal means that Lagares is likely not the every-day CF, though he balances the L/R batting mix with the lefty bats in Nimmo and Conforto.

I don’t get the Yankees approach this offseason. I mean I’m glad they aren’t pushing hard to get Machado. We don’t need another ARod in contract and behavior. But I would at least entertain Harper at 1B.

But more pressingly, we desperately need starting pitching. I would have rather given Corbin the 5th year than resign Happ. I would have preferred Robertson over Britton. About the only good move pitching wise has been the trade for Paxton. But even he is a question mark health wise.

The Yankees have so much more financial flexibility after resetting the luxury tax. I appreciate their new found financial restraint, but at the same time why aren’t they flexing it by fixing their most pressing need? Every starter in the rotation has a question mark. Will Severino regain his first half form? How many dead arm games and will his elbow still hold with Tanaka. Will CC’s knees give out? Can Paxton remain healthy? Will age catch up to Happ? And our depth is freaking Sonny Gray.... who is useless in Yankee Stadium.
