What will save me more battery, using edge and listening to my red sox with the mlb app, or using wifi

Since it's streaming I would say 3G would likely spare your battery a bit more than WIFI.

I've found using WiFi being better. My newborn son was in the hospital for a week last week and I listened to the A's games (we're sweeping Boston this week, by the way ;) ) over both and EDGE really killed my phone.

Overall, MLB At Bat is fantastic! Best app out there.

As far as I know, wifi is cheaper on the battery then 3G.
