Not working for me. I get "installation complete" but it's not there.

Any MLB.tv subscribers successfully using the NexDef HD plugin on ML?

Any luck with this? I can't get Nexdef going during a game. It appears to install but it's not working.

I still don't have a solution. I opened a support ticket with MLB.com but they haven't offered any help yet.

I had the same problem, and here's my solution:

    - right-click the NexDef Plug-in.pkg file and choose "Show Package Contents"
    - open "Install.command" (You'll probably need to change your system settings to temporarily allow for running apps from unidentified developers.)
    - this should open Terminal window. hit Enter to complete installation.

You should be able to find "NexDef" folder in your user/Library/Application Support, and you can also check if NexDef is running from:

    http://mlb.mlb.com/flash/mediaplayer/v4.1/NexDefDetector.html

    Hope this helps!

    cheers,

I was excited to see this solution, but I'm still failing.

I hit enter in the terminal window and get the following:

    pupalei$ /Volumes/nexdefinstall/NexDef\ Plug-in.pkg/Install.command ; exit;
    ##
    ##
    ## Ininstalling the NexDef Plug-in

Sorry for the long dump. I'm relatively new with a Mac / Linux, and I don't know where to go from here. Thanks.

-right-click the NexDef Plug-in.pkg file and choose "Show Package Contents"

    - this should open Terminal window. hit Enter to complete installation.
-Now go to Utilities and open Activity Monitor.
-In the Activity Monitor select "MLBNexDefAutobahn". When you find it, click "MLBNexDefAutobahn" and then click the Force Quit button.
-Choose Force Quit and refresh your game. If it doesn't work restart your computer and check again.

I'm getting the same long error messages, when I follow these directions (and these https://discussions.apple.com/message/19266372#19266372

I changed permissions on my folder, but when I run the uninstall and the install commands in terminal, they look like there are still permission issues. I can't uninstall or install even in terminal. I have restarted the computer as well. FRUSTRATED in the middle of a 3 playoff game jam tonight, with my macbook pro hdmi out to my Samsung 42 inch

    ----------

AHA joy. I just trashed the entire NextDef folder and tried again from scratch, running the install command in terminal from the NextDef .pkg DID work this time. Thanks for help

    Quick and Dirty Fix

I was not able to install the file by clicking on the "Install.command" file in the installer package (running 10.8.2), terminal was still returning an error. I was able to find a temporary fix, though it is not the most convenient fix. From the other solutions navigate to the folder

    /Users/<Your Username>/Library/Application Support/NexDef

Right click on the file NexDef.app and choose show package contents. In the package contents navigate to the MacOS folder and double click on the NexDef unix executable file (it was the only file in the folder for me).

A terminal window will open, make sure you leave it open otherwise the 'MLBNexDefAutobahn' process may close (this can be verified in activity monitor). I reopened the game and the HD and DVR functionality worked for me!

    Nexdef on 10.8 and 10.7

I have Mountain Lion. iOS 10.8.2 and also noticed that the NexDef was not working.

I tried following the instructions on the MLB.TV FAQ #16 http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/mlb/help/faq_nexdef.jsp and it worked like a charm, until I tried it the next day. I ended up deleting the NexDef app from that link. It was causing a warning window to flash on the screen that was so quick that you could not read it. I kept staring at the screen and was finally able to pick out the word NexDef. I went back to the "Application Support" folder and when I clicked on the NexDef app I got a warning that the file was damaged or that I was going to have to change my security level. I opted to delete it.

Then I decided to try installing it again from MLB.TV. Starting from Safari, and opening a game from MLB.TV I went to the "Video Quality" and hit the HD box. I then clicked the NexDef icon and the window for the Adobe Reader and NexDef opened up. Now this time I decided to download (DW) the Adobe Reader and install it ( even though I knew that I had the current one "v 11.0.02") The Adobe update had me quit Safari and it did its thing. At this point, I decided to check the Application Support >Adobe >Acobat folder. I found that in the "Acobat" folder I had two folders one for 11.0 and 10.0. Well I got thinking that the NexDef app might be getting confused and was looking into the old 10.0 folder. Also since I had upgraded to Adobe Reader 11 and had long since deleted Adobe Reader 10. I deleted the 10.0 folder.

Since I had already re-DW the NexDef app when I DW Adobe Reader I installed NexDef with Safari off.

With that done. I opened Safari and went back to the game and NexDef was installed. No more pop up windows telling me to install NexDef. To check to see if the NexDef app is installed. Open the "HD" box next to the "Video Quality" and if you see a slide bar between the word "Standard" and the "NexDef" icon at the top of the pop up window. The NexDef app has been installed. Also if you try to click on the NexDef icon nothing will happen. In other words the NexDef is successfully detecting the app on MLB.TV.

Note. Adobe Reader in the past was named Adobe Acobat. I am not sure if the folder I have named "Acobat" might be named "Reader" in your system. I have beed upgrading systems since 1984 and I still will find some old files floating around.

The "Application Support" is located in "Your Home Folder">Library

If the NexDef Folder has a red minus sign on the icon.
You will need to change the permissions. Select the NexDef folder and "Get Information" In the "Sharing & Permissions:" section, Hit the "+" sign at the bottom of the window ( if it is grayed out you will need to hit the padlock and use your PW to unlock it) Add "Admin" and set to "Read and Write" Also open the little gear icon ( next to the "+ -" Sign) select " Apply to enclosed Items" (( this will apply you permission to all items in the NexDef folder)). Then close the window.
