The latest version of mldonkey is 2.5

It has seemed to progressed significantly... I've always thought it was one of the "best" P2P clients for the Mac... with the latest release... it seems to have advanced.

It actually now has FastTrack (Kazaa) support. It also seems real. Not the poor-man's version that some other clients have had.

Also supports eDonkey, Overnet, Bittorrent, Gnutella, Gnutella2, Soulseek (beta), DirectConnect (alpha), Open nap (alpha)... and FastTrack (seems to be in beta... but works)

Setup is a bit convoluted... but there are some gui clients out there.

Woohoo! Every time i turn around, a new version of Donk is ready to go. It'sl ike Xmas, only better. Thanks, arn, for the heads-up.

Here's hoping the latest release makes me even half as happy as other updates have.

Dan

note: you have to manually turn on FastTrack in this version. (see MacNN thread)

true, it is really amazing. it runs on my linux box since about 8 month, using the web interface, as i rarely sit near the server. It s a gem.

Ok, this setup is a little confusing with all the binaries, gui apps and the like.

Could somebody post a step-by-step guide? With links to the files?

Yeah off the links I found a tutorial and it works, I have to use the webbased client because the GUI ones are so unstable :'(

Looks good so far :D

ok, maybe 'm being dumb here, but i can't get this to work at all. i found a how-to guide, and it doesnt seem to be working.

EDIT: thanks to Wes, everything works great now :)

MLdonkey rocks!!!

... I use it since a couple of months and I found all my favorite movies on the system (even weired\obscure German stuff from the 70s and 80s...). love it!

does anyone know if you HAVE to update your current version (like on soulseek???), or can I still use my nice and stable version. I don't want to touch my running system ;)

If MLd. finally supports Fasttrack I have less reasons to start up VPC6, muhraharhar

vSpacken (typing this on his dad's PC  )

Someone pointed me to ML after he told me about the memory leaks in the cocoa Bit Torrent client, which there are btw. Screws up virtual mem nicely, lots and lots of paging going on. Got this 2.5 ML and it's sweet. I haven't had a single problem with it, the donkey network is great, and best of all, I can now use share reactor comfortably from my unix console.

mldonkey 2.5

At last a proper Kazaa app on the mac... I can now tell my friends that Kazaa is on the mac too (Joe Public has never heard of Gnutella...).

Let's try it out.

i'm more of a fan of te emule client on the PC... the UI is really nice

The version I have is mldonkey 2.5-3.

With my dial-up, it's great for music videos/videos in general, but it doesn't always work with music.

BTW: Watch out for those directions. They require some quality reading time.
