Nice idea, but it looks like it prevents you from using the hole as a cable tidy.
but as others have said, why not SSD?
Very good idea worth keeping an eye on.
Look closer at the gap on the lower edge of the connector.
Sorry to derail the velcro train, but velcro is terrible because you need adhesives on both sides. Guess what happens to adhesives when they get hot? The glue becomes unstuck and your hard drive falls right down. Boom dead hard drive.

Plus being as it's designed specifically for an iMac thunderbolt would have been more appropriate than USB3, as would SSD
Hey Hello there Velcro works greatand it is under a dollar

The device has a cut out, so it can still be used as a cable tidy. This is pictured with the iMac cable running through the device.
where are you getting velcro from?
but echoing other posts: Why no SSD and Thunderbolt?....Maybe the drive produced with that features results so expensive and not sellable (in big volumes). Nice way to achive zero footprint.....
Stylish. A little bit expensive, but hey, fashion is not cheap....

The answer is simple in my mind.
It is aimed at backing up Data. So why do you need SSD for backing-up? Thunderbolt ports are scarce and USB are relatively plenty on a Mac.
In any case, you already note in your post that you feel that the product is too expensive, so you have answered your own question regarding the omission of a Thunderbolt and SSD.
As to all the Apple Velcro lovers I love the hypocrisy. If this were a Mac or iPhone thread you would all be screaming about aesthetic's yet are happy to glue a HD to your Mac instead of investing in a device which complement's your hardware.
Again, as to being expensive, is not all Apple equipment relatively expensive?
Wonder if there will be any resonance issues w mechanical hdds? ...
the high price maybe? I find this solution very good, and well priced. I have already have a small hd for backup so i don't needed but it's a good idea.but as others have said, why not SSD?

As a operate in the back ground time machine back up, SSD is not worth the extra cost.
