ATT time + Apple time = Microsoft time;

Microsoft time = time to copy file from one place to another (usually changes ever 0.5 seconds);

Apple time = rabbit speed (guaranteed that month);
Microsoft time = turtle speed (guaranteed sometime that year);
ATT time = super slow snail speed (guaranteed sometime that century);

time used to send email of picture from your iphone to another iphone = within 5 min (assuming push is enabled on other iphone);

time used to send picture via MMS = ATT time;
:D:rolleyes:

Sending MMS isn't slow at all... It's actually almost as fast as a SMS is most cases.

I dunno about that...it takes a few seconds to send an SMS message, it took about 30 seconds to send MMS. Remembering back I'd say it took about six times longer to send the MMS.

Some "funny" stuff:

Out of nowhere my 3G with 3.1 beta OS and an AT&T PAYG sim starts sending MMS. If I try to access web sites or do anything that requires a network, however, it complains that I have no data access. Previously, when sending an MMS resulted in the red "!", data access worked fine. So it seems to have traded generic network access for MMS. In addition, if I pop that same sim into my HTC Fuze or laptop 3G slot, data works just fine every time and, in the case of the Fuze, so does voice calls and MMS (which has always worked).

I guess that's why apple sez "For development use ONLY".

P.S.: Before anyone gets uppity, as of this morning MMS no longer works on the 3G with 3.1 and PAYG sim. Unfortunately, neither does data.

Hmm, really? I don't think I've ever noticed a lag that long. Maybe I'll give it a test today and see how long it takes.

Hello everyone, sorry for my lack of participation today, busy news day here in Philly.

One bit of news that matters here... still no MMS.

I know everyone is tired of these dam mms treads and rumor but I just got a customer who works for the AT&T. He looked liked a manager and I straight out asked him what's the deal with this mms bs. He said just relax and that the 3.1 update will be out by the end of month........so at least it's august not September

You should post this as a new thread......NOT! :)

Do you know how many of these "I heard from" stories we get?

...AT&T... ...manager...

Knows nothing about Apple's software releases.

and I straight out asked him what's the deal with this mms bs.

And he straight out lied.

He said just relax and that the 3.1 update

...has nothing to do with MMS, as it is enabled in Apple's OS right now. MMS will be a carrier update from AT&T.

He lied to get you out of the room.

YAY!!!! Then everyone gets to bitch about the battery.... or something else...

my thought for the evening..... "Never since the dawn of time has a crowd of people been more loyal to any product and yet bitch about how bad it is in the same breath!"

EDIT... ok maybe the Edsel....

FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU after a month mms stopped working. But now it won't go to 95% and fail, it goes to 10% and fails....

Welcome to the rest of us, who don't have MMS. :)

I am pretty sure that joke was used before, additionally, we are keeping this thread alive to keep all MMS talk in one spot... aren't we smart? :D

Aggie... Nice pic!

well i heard there are a couple class action lawsuits against ATT and Apple for lack of MMS.

I mean, they show it and promote it as it being able to send pic/video messages...

There has to be a legit reason for them not to have this rolled out yet...wish they would clue us in..

...has nothing to do with MMS, as it is enabled in Apple's OS right now. MMS will be a carrier update from AT&T.

Apple also said in-app purchases and device interfaces are in 3.0, neither of which we've seen yet. Push also inexplicably took at least 3 weeks before any updates were available in the app store.

I'm not really doubting that 3.0 can handle MMS, but Apple themselves are no strangers to lying to our faces.

Which of those problems is Apple's fault?

In-App purchases: That is up to the developers to input into their applications.
Device Interfaces: That is up to 3rd party hardware developers to create software for their devices for the iPhone.
Push: That is up to the developers to institute push notifications into their applications. Apple gave them plenty of time with the 3.0 Betas to get their software figured out with push working on it. They didn't.

I am pretty sure AP Mobile gave me my first "Breaking News" push notification on the week that OS 3.0 became available.

Like vizkiz said, Apple had the necessary infrastructure in place. It was for the carrier, developer, or both, to take advantage of it.

Why aren't developers using the functionality if it is there? The SIMS 3 demonstrated in-app purchases in the keynote presentation, yet the app store version has yet to include them. Iceberg Reader demonstrated their in-app bookstore at the keynote, yet they have yet to release the app. Not only that, but they continue to release individual book apps to the app store! Oh, and let's not forget ngmoco's Star Defense. In the keynote they demonstrated their expansions and the speaker said, word for word, "the 3.0 features will be available around the launch of 3.0". Yet the $.99 version in the app store has no in-app purchasing!

Why hasn't any developer used device interfacing in their apps yet? New developers demo'd (unsuccesfully I might add) apps that used these. Where are they?

You are also just flat out wrong about push. IM apps submitted updates with push to the app store from day one - it inexplicably took them 4 weeks for approval.

Developers aren't the ones being lazy here. The functionality just doesn't exist yet.

So you think Apple just went ahead and made fake versions of The Sims 3 and Iceberg Reader just for the presentation? The developers made that software (or lied and faked it), not Apple. Apple is not responsible for features that developers are not using. You said, it was in the keynote, functioning, then you say the functionality doesn't exist yet. It does exist, developers are not taking advantage of it.

As for being flat out wrong about push; It took a while for Apple to approve the thousands of updated "iPhone OS 3.0 Tested" applications once 3.0 came out. That is because many developers submitted applications within the first couple of days. You expect Apple to get them all approved in a few days? Dream on. And not all IM apps submitted their updates on day one.

First of all, Apple wouldn't be the ones that made "fake" versions of the apps for the presentation. You just prove my point. The developers showed that their apps were ready for these features. They weren't playing videos. They had their iPhones plugged into the display demonstrating their apps live. Half of them showed in-app purchasing to the entire audience.

The developers put the functionality for the features there - it's the back-end support for the in-app infrastructure that isn't ready, which is Apple's fault. Although, perhaps you think that developers weren't ready for push notifications in 2.0 either?

Not a single app in the entire app store supports in-app purchases despite the fact that developers demonstrated their apps were ready for the feature over two months ago. The fact is that in-app purchasing is not yet supported by the App Store. It's actually kind of cute, however, that you still blame the developers.

I'm sorry, but you're flat out wrong. I have two applications on my iPhone that support in-app purchases. TweetPush uses in-app purchases to renew the subscriptions to their server for Twitter push notifications. Enigmo uses in-app purchases for new levels.

While there certainly isn't an abundance of apps with in-app purchases, they're out there. Apple is certainly ready.
