Did Apple release a different keyboard or the the keyboard used in the ad purposely different?
Until it doesn't charge while you use it, there is no need for induction. Put a proper, long lasting Lithium Ion cell in the devices and add Mini-USB to charge it. For keyboards, the only reason to go wireless is "because it looks nice and clean". Cluttering up your desk with a wired keyboard induction charger and a wired mouse induction charger is not the way to go. Not even the Mac Mini HTPC is a scenario for the keyboard charger - you use the remote, and the battery in there lasts pretty much forever. The Lithium ion battery in the Magic Mouse is in theory a good idea - however if it only lasts 10 days, and then I can't use it until fully charged, I rather to with LSD rechargeable batteries. If they (or Apple) could simply make a stylish induction pad that my Mac & keyboard and mouse would sit on, I'd jump at that. The Mac charges the pad, and the keyboard and mouse take their power from that.
No clutter, and no recharge time since the power is always available. (Probably a very power-inefficient way of power devices - I don't know a lot about induction charging!)
No - this is the British English keyboard layout (which in my opinion is much better).
Dollar store AA batteries > that thing.
I don't see the point of a wireless keyboard. You aren't going to move it from your desk, so why remove the two USB connectors from the sides, make you have to either buy new batteries all the time or keep recharging them, just to get rid of a single cable that doesn't even restrict you from moving your keyboard as you would never move it anyway?
I'm all for wireless but having to change/charge batteries all the time for 3 different devices is extremely annoying. It's a wasteful approach to the environment as well, as it produces more pollution as even rechargeable batteries eventually die permanently.
The last thing you want is "oh damn I don't have any more batteries and I can't use my computer".
Induction charging would be great if your iMac could supply all the power needed for your keyboard and mouse wirelessly over a distance of 20-30 cm. But we're not there yet.
It is in fact a QWERTZ keyboard, which is designed for the German language. But besides this, what makes the British English layout better for you? The only differences from the US English keyboards are the larger return key and some different symbols on the number keys 2 and 3 (for respectively and £).
But even better are rechargeable AA batteries, and the best are the low-self-discharge rechargeables like Sanyo Eneloop, Rayovac Hybrid, or Apple's (probably rebranded Eneloop) batteries.
I'll take the very slight inconvenience of having to change batteries a few times a year to the expense and clutter of this. That's part of why I have a wireless keyboard--so I have fewer cords and clutter on my desk.
Well, it seems like I only change the batteries in my keyboard twice a year. Which means I only use 4 AAs a year. Which only costs me $1 per year.
Which only costs me $1 per year.
It may *seem* like twice a year, but unless you have access to some incredible batteries, I doubt you are changing only twice a year. And if you are, please let me know which brand you are using.
Also, let me know the store that you are only paying $1.00 for 4 batteries... Around here, the best non-recharable batteries cost like $10/4-pack... and they don't last a year.
The Ikea AA batteries suck. They used to be very good, Made in Germany, they lasted a long time. Now they've changed suppliers and they're all made in China.Obviously then ones I'm currently using were purchased at Ikea.

This is ridiculous. Seriously, does taking 30 seconds to change your batteries once every 2-3 months really require you to use a charger. <<
