A) Neither Nintendo nor Sony would EVER EVER EVER let anyone else use their controllers
B) How would a "big console" controller even work with the iPhone? You set it in your lap and play? No, this is a portable device, and needs to be played like other portable gaming devices. The beauty of all the Nintendo devices and now the PSP as well is that it's an all-in-one unit that is still comfortable to play (though I think the PSP is MUCH more comfortable and natural than the DS in feel, but the touch screen of the DS is great).
I guess you took my post a little too seriously... Did you notice I was having a wet dream?
By "Nintendo and Sony's approval", I meant, "No way in hell would they let Apple officially do this". And I totally agree with you about everything else, because I was being facetious.
Sorry, but I just have to say...WTF?
However, as silly as you are for taking my post too seriously, I can't agree with you on this. There is absolutely NO WAY that Apple could design a better controller than what Nintendo and Sony, after generations of experience, already have. Both companies have done much research on creating buttons that feel great, and sony has tweaked their Dualshock four times.
Would it look and feel as crappy as the iPhone?
The iPhone works mostly because its software is awesome. The design isn't ergonomic; it's a rounded slab. Their computers look nice, but designing nice computers is totally different from designing a functional controller.
Game controllers require physical buttons that must (a) be positioned well and (b) feel good. They must stand hundreds of presses of abuse. Apple is known for making great software and hardware that looks sexy. A game controller must have function over form. Apple likes to do things the exact opposite.
Would it fell and play as crappy as the Mighty Mouse or the new thin keyboard?
You're.... you're.... implying that the Mighty Mouse isn't crappy. The Mighty Mouse
sucks. "Sorry, but I just have to say... WTF?" I can make a list of the things wrong with the Mighty mouse, and they'll prove my point about an Apple designed controller.
1. Its shape gives me (and many others) a hand cramp. Controllers can't be uncomfortable.
2. Right clicking sucks. A physical button would be ugly, but would work better. Controller buttons have to work.
3. The scroll ball is much too small, and it sucks. It also gives me cramps. Buttons on a controller shouldn't look good, but feel good.
4. The buttons on the side can't be comfortably pressed, and don't have enough give. I have to turn them off because they're pressed accidently all the time. They don't click, so you can't tell how much force is required. This sort of thing cannot happen on a game controller.
5. It's all form over function. All of it.
6. The scroll ball gets gunked up and stops working. it's nearly impossible to clean, because you can't take the mouse apart. A game controller can't break like that.
7. They've had the most mouse-making experience of anyone and yet the Mighty Mouse feels like crap. I'm not sure what the hell went wrong there.
8. Apple has designed even worse peripherals. Remember the G3 iMac p(f)uck?
Etc etc etc. You really think an Apple-designed
game controller would play well?
Apple keyboards are generally good because they've been making keyboards ever since the Apple ][.
I really don't know what sort of bad batch you smoked, but if

knows how to do one thing, it's design ascetically and functionally awesome stuff.
You like the Mighty Mouse-- what have you been snorting? Apple stuff is might be sexy, but definitely not 'functionally awesome'. They might know how to make functional stuff, but it's clear that function is worth balls next to ascetics.
The MacBook Air is NOT functionally awesome. It's functionally retarded for many purposes. Even the MBPs aren't that functionally wonderful. Their hinge design looks sweet, but often the display won't tilt far back enough. There's no card-reading slots, because they'd look ugly. They booted S-Video output either because (a) the less ports, the better!, or (b) it took up too much space. There's only three USBs on the 17'' and only two on the 15'', see reasons above. Scratches are a menace. iPods scratch. My iPhone's metal bezel gets buffed up. The iPhone's headphone jack is recessed to keep the design nice. The iPods lost their remote port to save room.
There's way too many examples of Apple's lack of function. A controller needs to be all function.
Sure it's their first foray into gaming, but they managed to do alright with their first cell phone I'd say. I think that if you're talking 3rd party...then yea it might be iffy.
The iPhone is great because of Touch OSX. It's very functional hardware wise because of OS X. Controllers are mechanical.
If if

designed an iPhone gaming companion themselves, I have little doubt that it would rock.

History and Apple's own philosophy says that an Apple controller would suck rather hard. You only think this because you've been snorting something, probably
I have shown that a video game controller must be purely functional. I have proven that Apple often ignores function. I have given examples of peripherals designed by Apple that suck, functionally. I have demonstrated that despite all of those factors, Apple still could not create a better controller than Nintendo or Sony because of the experience and patents they hold. Imagining an apple controller that would not only be functional, but better than Nintendo's -- a company that has manufactured controllers for 20 years -- is ridiculous.
Is there anything you'd like to argue back with-- maybe a few colons around

?
You loose the conversation! Because the internet is serious.
