Mobile Me Duplicating Contacts

Mobile Me is duplicating my contacts like crazy! I have my mac book pro running 10.6.6 and two Iphone 4's synced to my mobile me account and the contacts are being duplicated x10 or more. First I tried deleting them manually from mobile me but after an hour of deleting I refreshed the site and it was as if I never did anything. Next I tried deleting the duplicates manually from my phone but once again after awhile it was as if I never did anything. I don't know what to do. I read somewhere that I can click reset sync data in mobile me but I don't want to lose any important contacts...

Similar thing happened to me. Here is what caused it for me: I synced my contacts to MobileMe. HOWEVER, when I plugged my iPhone into my MacBook and brought up iTunes, under the main sync tab, I also had the "Sync Contacts" box checked. Unchecking this solved my problem.
