At work we use Exchange, in a VPN, without an activesync server (we use blackberry). When I try to sync my PC with MobileMe, everything works fine except that MobileMe does not 'see' the content on the exchange server - the new calendars appear in outlook and content moves across, but appointments and contacts are not copied from the Exchange folders to the cloud.
I can't find a way to automatically copy content from the exchange server to an offline folder in Outlook.
Syncing contacts and calendar from iTunes works fine!

Can anybody help? MobileMe is useless for me without the ability to sync exchange content...

I had the same problem and I've reverted back to MobileMe for mac-MM-iphone and exchange straight to the iphone, it's not perfect but at least I can see all my diaries on my iphone just not in MM or on my mac

Thanks Steve, glad I'm not the only one!
How do you sync from both sources? If I update the iphone via MM it deletes all my itunes-synced content.

This is going to prevent me from buying MM when my trial is up - sure Apple think MM is Exchange for the rest of us, but that doesn't mean there aren't exchange users who would like to use it!

Contacts & calendars pushed OTA, Exchange via Activesync iTunes library as per normal. What is getting deleted?

Sorry, I'll try to be clear (confusing!)
I can't get my Exchange calendar or contact to sync at all.
Itunes will sync via Outlook fine - but if I select 'mobileme' as the sync source in iphone, it deletes contacts and appointments I've synced from outlook and leaves me with the appointments that I've created on the iphone, ical or mobileme only - so I can't have mobileme and itunes syncing at the same time.

Music etc I get from my macbook pro - that's unaffected.

We don't have activesync enabled on our exchange server, as we use Blackberries.

Help me please! if I can get this sorted, I'll be all over MM like a rash.

    Same Boat

I think I'm in the same boat as you guys. I have a laptop that is connected to my work exchange server. Unfortunately, we use Exchange 2000 (I think) and MM only works with 2003 or 2007 I believe. I followed the set up instructions to a tee, open MM Preferences and select Sync. I see activity (i.e. syncing calendars, syncing contacts) so I know something is happening. But when I open MM on the web, there are no calendar events and no contacts. I assume this is due to the fact that I do not have a local version of the outlook.pst file on my computer as a result of exclusively using Exchange? When I set up MM on the iPhone, it just wipes my calendar and contacts clean. I do get instant push emails sent to my iphone that are addresses to my @me.com address - so I know it's working. But I can't get my work emails on exchange to push to my iphone. Not sure what my options are here. I've read a bunch of other posts and I see that everyone else seems to be able to sync calendars and contacts but I assume that is due to the fact that their info is local. Any way for me to set this up using an old version of Exchange or am I totally screwed and have to go back to my blackberry?

That was my assumption too - but there's no reason why it shouldn't work if Apple wants it to, is there? iTunes finds my Exchange server-hosted contacts and calendar perfectly well...

Very true. When I sync through iTunes, all my calendar events and contacts sync perfectly. Still don't have the colored calendar events that they advertised. Not sure how to get those?

OKay, I've just been on the apple mobileme forums, and they're filled with this issue. There's a very telling support chat up there which makes it sound like this is a mobileme issue (what, another one?) that apple are working to fix. Hopefully we'll be good to go in the next few days!

I am using Exchange at work on my laptop and I do have a local .pst file and I have the same issues you do. I have a set of contacts stored in my local Outlook address book that I want synced (not our Global address list) and MobileMe doesn't sync them or any calendar events.

What's strange is that I will periodically get pop up warnings from MobileMe saying that more than 5% of the accounts on my computer will be changed when it syncs. So I know something is syncing. But it does not show up in the MobileMe interface or on my iPhone. Odd. Hope is is just a MobileMe glitch and we will be able to sync contacts, calendar and have push email for our exchange account. If not, may have to return and go back to blackberry. Push email for work was the main reason I finally decided to make the switch. No push is kind of a deal breaker.

I get the same warnings and it sure looks like it is doing something, but nothing ever shows up. If I add a contact or event on my Mac, it does get added to my laptop, but I need it to go the other way.

Did you sync the data from your PC to mobile me first then try to sync your touch/iphone. The instruction say it will erase all your contacts, calendar enties when you first sync.

    4. Set up Push on your iPhone/iPod touch
On your iPhone or iPod touch Home screen, tap Settings
    Tap “Mail, Contacts, Calendars.”
If you’ve already set up a .Mac or MobileMe account, select your account and skip the next step. If you haven’t already set up an account, tap Add Account, enter your MobileMe account information and tap Save.
Choose the data you would like pushed over-the-air to your device and tap “Save”. Important: When you press the “Sync” button, MobileMe will overwrite any existing contacts, calendars and bookmarks on your iPhone or iPod touch.
To avoid losing data, make sure that you have completed steps 2 and 3 above.

yes, tried that - I think it is only important to do it that way so that any contacts on the phone are not lost.

The reason you're getting sync warnings is that MobileMe thinks there are NO appointments on your computer - so adding even one from mobileme is a large change. Syncing FROM mobileme is not a problem - syncing TO it is.

All this seems irrelevant given that MobileMe webapps have been down for the whole day. Even those giving apple the benefit of the doubt are starting to rethink...

What did you do to get it to work? I'm still completely in the dark. I've seen posts about copying your Calendar events into one of the new sub calendars created in Outlook "Work" or "Home" and then sync. I can't believe that is required. How did you get sync working from Outlook on your PC to MobileMe?

If you use an Exchange server

I also wanted to sync my work data to MobileMe (I have a PC at work that uses an Exchange server.) I managed to contact Apple Support and this is the email I received:

"Please make sure that you are not using an Exchange server. You may need to contact your network administrator to find out. If you are using an Exchange server then syncing will most likely not work. It interferes with the MobileMe syncing.

If you are not using an Exchange server, please archive your contacts and
your calendars on your windows machine. To do this follow these steps:

    1. Open Outlook
    2. Click File
    3. Select Archive
    4. Then select Contacts or Calendars and name the file as such and save it
to a location that you will remember.

Do this for both Contacts and Calendars. Then remove all of your contacts.
After you have removed the contacts, try to sync the contacts only down from MobileMe. If this works, you will have to remove the calendars that are in Outlook also and reset the sync data down for them."

Re: If you use and exchange server

So does anyone know if Mobile Me will work with an exchange server in the future?

I want to be able to connect my work PC (laptop) & Blackberry, which is on an exchange server, with MM to my home MAC, specifically contacts, calendars, and bookmarks. It doesn't seem like it would be all that hard to have more than one computer(s) with synced contacts and calendars???

Any advice or thoughts on how to do this either in MM or other means.

Since Apple does not seem interested in making MobileMe work with Exchange, I gave up on it and am using Google Sync. It now supports synching contacts and calendars, so I can sync my work laptop on Exchange with my Mac at home and my BlackBerry.
