MobileMe Calendar Beta - Information

Do you know how iPad will Sync without Push? Like will it just Sync based on the interval set? Like every 15 min? That would be okay with me for a while so that I can publish my calendar and get off of other calendars.

On the iPad, you get to set intervals or manual (whenever u open the app it syncs).

I've only just noticed this minimum requirement for Snow Leopard too... however, unlike you, I'm still using Tiger! Wonder how this will affect the sync with iCal...? 😕
 
as far as i can see they don't add the option to add other ical calendars. this is more or less important if you want to share a cal with someone outside of mobile me...

I've got the calendar invitation this morning. You get a checklist to see whether you're using all the right stuff (iOS4, Snow Leopard, Safari 4 etc), and a warning that any changes you make in the beta will be lost if you leave the beta. Then click Upgrade. You then get a grey screen while it upgrades you. Five minutes later I'm still waiting...
 
Got fed up waiting and after 10 minutes I cancelled. Tried again, this time it went through in about 30 seconds. Looks nice.

I haven't received my invite yet
 
Got my invite last night. Got the grey screen which never came back (just went to bed). When I got up it was still there. Just closed the browser and started again and was done in about 1 minute. Did get another screen that said Groups would be dropped. Was not using Groups so no problem. All my calendar events seem to still be there and it looks pretty good (like my iPad).
 
The beta looks pretty good and works pretty well. However, I have not be able to access a MM Public Calendar from any other Calendar (Google, Windows Live, Outlook, etc...). Anyone else able to get this to work?

From the MM Calendar Beta Known Issues, it says you should be able to Share as Public (read-only).....

"Sharing private calendars can only be done with other participants in the MobileMe Calendar Beta. Public (read-only) sharing will work with non-Mobileme members and people outside the beta."

It appears to be working now with Outlook and Google. Still getting an error with my other Calendar Clients. With Outlook (Internet Calendar Subscription) I was able to add my calendar. It then updated when I did a Send/Receive All Folders (normal behavior). For Google it loaded the Calendar but will not update (but this is normal for Google - long standing issue with Google Subscriptions).

Be cool if they updated the contacts part of MobileMe to look like contacts on the iPad + was CardDAV (using more standards the better!)

any way im still waiting for my invite 🙁

Still waiting here too. Applied on the day that the trial link went live so I imagine it's that they're having to deal with quite a few beta requests and/or are just tidying up some final elements of it to make it ready to go to the live beta. Looking forward to seeing how it deals with subscription calendars.

From the MobileMe Beta Known Issues: "Subscribed calendars can't be viewed, created, or edited at me.com". I hope this means that they will add it before the beta is over (along with Alarms....I hope)

This would be great and I can't see any reason why Apple wouldn't implement CardDav: according to Wikipedia iOS4 is CardDav capable (didn't realise that...) and we know that Address Book in Snow Leopard is too. Hell, at the moment I'd settle for LDAP implementation though - that would mean I could access my MobileMe contacts in Outlook 2007 at work, where I'm not allowed to install the MobileMe control panel.
 
Do we know any final release date yet ?

They'done Mail and calendar, I get the feeling the next generation Mac OS X will get those two desktop software updated as well 🙂
